On the evening of November 13, speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Duy Xuyen district (Quang Nam) said that he had learned about the incident of a homeroom teacher beating a 6th grade student, causing bruises on both legs, that had just occurred at Le Quy Don Secondary School (Duy Tan commune, Duy Xuyen district).

Accordingly, the incident of a teacher beating a 6th grade male student happened after Physical Education class on November 12.

On the afternoon of November 13, the student's family posted an article on social media, along with a photo of the student's bruised legs.

According to Mr. Sau, the teacher initially admitted that the incident happened after the male student got into a fight with his friend and the homeroom teacher got angry and used a ruler to hit the student's leg.

"Currently, the school has decided to suspend the teacher for 5 days to clarify the incident. But regardless of the reason, it is unacceptable for a teacher to beat a student like that. In this case, she should have found out the reason and invited the parents of the two students to discuss," Mr. Sau shared.

The head of the Department of Education and Training of Duy Xuyen district added that this afternoon, the teacher and school representatives visited the student's house and together with the family took him to the doctor.

The district Department of Education and Training is also waiting for a specific report from the school and the results of the injury assessment to consider disciplining the teacher.
