The above issue was shared in the online television consultation program of Thanh Nien Newspaper with the topic "Advice before the end of registration of wishes", on the afternoon of July 28.
Candidates taking the university entrance exam this year
According to Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Vice Principal of Duy Tan University, there is not much time left for candidates to register their admission wishes, but there are still a large number of candidates who have not completed this process. In these cases, according to Dr. Hai, candidates should review their list of wishes one last time. Candidates should not wait until the last day, but no later than July 29, they need to register their wishes on the system. The last day is only a reserve day, if there is any problem, it will be used to make adjustments.
Master Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, also shared that with only 2 days left before the end of registration, candidates should not be subjective with any operation, no matter how small. "A very important thing candidates need to do after registering is to exit the software and log in again to check the information and take a screenshot. This is a very small operation but will help candidates feel really secure," said Master Tri.
However, according to Master Tri, right after registering your wishes, paying the admission fee is an important step. "Even if you register 100 wishes but do not pay the admission fee, none of your wishes will be recognized. According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates will start paying the admission fee from July 31 to August 6. However, this online fee payment schedule includes 6 installments corresponding to candidates in each specific province," Master Tri emphasized.
According to Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that the number of candidates with a total score of 24 points or more in the three high school graduation exams has decreased compared to last year. If last year, the number of these candidates accounted for about 25%, this year it is only about 18%. Therefore, candidates with a total score of 24 or more have a very good chance. The reason is partly because the number of candidates achieving this score has decreased, partly due to the impact of this year's new preferential score calculation method. "Not only are candidates admitted, but candidates with an exam score 3 points higher than the admission standard score for each major of the school also have the opportunity to receive a valuable scholarship. This year, candidates with 24 points or more can be considered for a partial or full scholarship," Dr. Hai added.
Master Tran Van Trang, Deputy Head of Admissions at Saigon International University, predicted: "The standard scores of the school's majors may be 1-2 points higher than the announced floor score. The standard score of the school may be 17-18, but to receive the scholarship policy, students need to achieve a higher score. For example, candidates with a total score of 3 subjects from 25 points or more will receive a full scholarship equivalent to the tuition fee for the entire course."

Regarding the scholarship policy, Mr. Vo Ngoc Nhon, Deputy Director of the Admissions Consulting Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the school also has about 2,000 scholarships for students during the early admission process. In addition, the school also has separate scholarships for students in the engineering sector, talented scholarships, scholarships for students with high awards, scholarships for students with difficult circumstances, etc.
Also in the program, from the information that more than 72,000 candidates only registered for 1 wish, Mr. Nhon had some additional notes. Accordingly, if the candidate has been admitted early and decided to choose this wish to enroll, it is normal. But in other cases, if the candidate only registers for 1 wish, it can be considered further. Because in fact, from 2021, there were 61 candidates who, despite achieving 29.5 points or higher, still failed the university entrance exam.
"Up to now, there is information that candidates have registered more than 100 wishes, which I think is unnecessary. However, you should not be too confident and subjective when registering only 1 wish if that wish does not meet the conditions for early admission. Candidates should have necessary backup plans," the Deputy Director of the Admissions Consulting Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology added.
