In addition to knowledge from books, the youth union members in Phu Yen had the opportunity to see images and visual documents about the unnumbered trains that made up the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea and meet meaningful living witnesses.

On November 19, at the national historical site of the Vung Ro Ship Without Numbers (Dong Hoa town, Phu Yen), the Standing Committee of Phu Yen Provincial Youth Union organized a march to the source with the theme "Vung Ro - Youthful Spirit" to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vung Ro Wharf receiving the first shipment of Ship Without Numbers (November 28, 1964 - November 28, 2024), the ships that created the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea.

The mission of the young generation: Bring the country to prosperity

The program was attended by leaders of Phu Yen province, former soldiers of the Ship Without Number, soldiers of the K60 company, Ben Vung Ro porters... and more than 300 youth union members in the province.

After the incense offering and flower offering ceremony to commemorate the heroes and martyrs, young people and delegates attending watched the documentary "Vung Ro Legend".

Especially the very emotional exchange between Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dac Thanh - former captain of Ship No. C41, former deputy chief of staff of the Naval Region 3 Command; Major Ngo Van Dinh - head of the Liaison Committee of the Vung Ro Ship No. Wharf, former soldier of Company K60; Lieutenant Colonel Le Thanh Khang - political commissar of the Military Command of Dong Hoa town and Tran Trung Kien, a student of class 12A1 at Le Hong Phong High School, Tay Hoa district.

During the exchange, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dac Thanh shared that the memory he will always remember is the second ship trip to Vung Ro. In December 1964, in addition to tons of weapons to support the southern battlefield, the ship also brought 3 tons of fragrant rice to give to the forces at Vung Ro wharf, the brave people who had nothing to eat, had to eat figs to stay and fight, waiting to receive the weapons brought in by the ship.

"Although Phu Yen is a rice granary, supplying or storing food in mountainous areas during wartime was extremely difficult" - Hero of the People's Armed Forces Ho Dac Thanh emotionally recalled.

Mr. Thanh told the younger generation: "Fathers and uncles shed so much sweat and blood to fight for and protect independence. That mission is completed. Now is your time, young people must devote their strength and brains to making Vietnam develop strongly and richly."

Listening attentively to the stories of the previous generation, Tran Trung Kien, a student who entered the national finals of the Road to Olympia 2024 competition, shared: "We have learned about the feats and sacrifices of our ancestors to create the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea. We will never forget and hope that schools will have more history teaching activities to inspire students to love their homeland."

In order to help union members and young people better understand historical events, a contest to learn about Vung Ro Wharf receiving shipments of unnumbered ships was held right at the national historical site of Vung Ro Unnumbered Ship Wharf.

In the form of a multiple-choice test, 15 teams (3 people/team) competed, answering multiple-choice questions related to this historical event, creating excitement for young people.

Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh, a third-year student at the Central College of Industry and Trade, said she was very happy to participate in this game because "the events were strung together very well."

"I learned a lot of interesting information such as soldiers disguising weapons-carrying ships as fishing boats or encountering danger and to avoid being captured by the enemy, they had to sink the ship and its cargo. I think that instead of reading a long history book, young people will prefer what they see and hear. Participating in games like this helps me to connect events and gain more new knowledge," Trinh said.
