(Dan Tri) - Many equipment and weapons serving the peacekeeping police brought to the United Nations to perform their duties were displayed at the Closing Ceremony of the Training Course of the UN Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1.
In January 2024, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security established and launched the United Nations Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1. Since the unit was established, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has directed the organization of training, coaching, and investment in necessary equipment for the unit to ensure readiness for the United Nations Expert Team to survey, advise, and evaluate the upgrade to level 2 in the capacity system, as a premise for official deployment as a United Nations Police Unit and to be sent to perform tasks according to regulations. At the recent Closing Ceremony of the Training Course of the United Nations Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1 (VNFPU-1), Major General Nguyen Si Quang - Chief of the Ministry of Public Security's Permanent Office for the United Nations Peacekeeping - was present to visit the facilities and exhibition of weapons and equipment displayed here.
Personal items such as: clothes, compass, batteries, survival kits... always accompany soldiers on duty, helping to respond to any arising situations. From July 15 to 26, the United Nations Peacekeeping Expert Team inspected and assessed the readiness level of VNFPU-1 of the Ministry of Public Security. Through the inspection, the Expert Team highly appreciated the preparation of equipment, facilities, training and coaching of VNFPU-1 of the Ministry of Public Security, which met the standards of the United Nations.
Soldiers introduced the STV 380 rifle made in Vietnam and the sniper rifle at the exhibition. Major General Nguyen Si Quang said that although it was newly established, the officers and soldiers were gathered from police units and localities with initial difficult conditions, lacking in facilities, equipment, training conditions, concentrated living and accommodation conditions..., but above all, the officers and soldiers of VNFPU-1 were united, united, overcame difficulties to excellently complete the mission. C04 explosive detector is used when screening luggage and items suspected of containing explosives, to detect and analyze explosives. Electric batons are used for guarding, protecting targets, performing external tasks, and suppressing attacks from criminals and opponents. In addition, there are metal detectors and traffic control devices (with identification lights). The tent display area has a command desk and folding beds for soldiers. The tent displayed at the exhibition can accommodate 8-10 people. When necessary, these folding beds can be folded down to create space for meetings and work discussions. Major General Nguyen Si Quang directly inspected the facilities inside the tent.
Hammocks help soldiers survive in the forest. To build a hammock, each soldier must have skillful skills. The space for building a hammock must have 2 large trees, supported by small columns inside to prevent rainwater from flowing into the hammock. In addition, medical equipment and supplies are also fully prepared, meeting the conditions of a Level 1 Field Hospital, ready to be brought to perform tasks at the United Nations.
