Cast of the movie "Con Cam": "The movie is a different experience"

The cast of the movie “Con Cam” has been officially announced, with many names such as Meritorious Artist Hanh Thuy, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Hiep, actors Thuy Diem, Quoc Cuong, and young faces... The movie is based on a familiar fairy tale but has brought different experiences to the actors.

The movie “Con Cam” is inspired by the fairy tale Tam Cam, directed by director Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan (Production Q). This is a movie in the genre of movies inspired by fairy tales, exploiting elements of folk culture, indigenous culture, and unique features of traditional culture that director Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan intend to build.

Director Tran Huu Tan has a passion for horror and suspense films. He has produced films that have attracted public attention such as “Bac Kim Thang” (2019), “Rung The Mang” (2021), “Chuyen Ma Near Nha” (2022), and “Ke An Hon” (2023).

It can be seen that in each work, he tries to research, change the way of expression, and improve himself to produce better works. Tran Huu Tan's most successful work is "Tet in hell village" (2023), a TV series based on the literary work of the same name by author Thao Trang, became a "hot" duo in the book and small screen markets at that time.

Tran Huu Tan said he wants to build an "ecosystem" of horror and supernatural films based on Vietnamese folklore, and "Con Cam" is the latest project that he and Hoang Quan are bringing to life.

The movie "Con Cam" is inspired by the familiar story of Tam Cam, but is transformed with new characters, new hidden corners, and completely different ways of expression to bring the audience completely new perspectives.

The director said that for the crew, each film is more challenging than the previous one, and the difficulty level keeps increasing. He hopes that the efforts and dedication of the “Con Cam” crew will satisfy, be welcomed and supported by the audience.

Sharing about the film, director Tran Huu Tan said that when starting to make the film, the crew carefully researched all versions and variations of the story, to create a new space for viewers, especially young audiences.

Producer Hoang Quan excitedly said: “The film project 'Con Cam' is a project that Production Q, along with director Huu Tan and Quan, has been preparing for more than 3 years. This is a project that the two of us have prepared very carefully and enthusiastically, because it is a fairy tale that everyone is interested in and wonders about the horror details in the film.”

The film brings together a cast of famous, long-time actors, such as Meritorious Artist Hanh Thuy, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Hiep, actors Thuy Diem, Quoc Cuong, Mai The Hiep..., and new young faces such as Hai Nam, Tran Doan Hoang, Phuoc Loc, Thien Tu...

In particular, "Con Cam" has the return of Lam Thanh My, a familiar face in many films such as “I see yellow flowers on green grass”, “Super thief”, “Super easy job”... and a series of horror films such as “Soul snatcher”, “Phantom sleep”...

In the film, Lam Thanh My plays Cam, with a terrifying appearance. Sharing about the film, Lam Thanh My said: "With the film 'Con Cam' and with the character Cam, I think there are many differences, many breakthroughs, and because of that, the film can bring to the audience many new and attractive perspectives."

Playing the role of Tam in the film is Rima Thanh Vy, the face of famous films such as "Muoi: The Curse Returns" (2022), or "Thanh Soi".

For Thanh Vy, “Con Cam” is a very attractive script. “From the beginning when I came to the project, I liked it. The film is based on ‘Tam Cam’, a very famous Vietnamese folk tale, and is made in a horror version, which I think will be very interesting.”

Sharing about this special role, Thanh Vy said that in the story of Tam Cam that the audience knows by heart, Tam is always perfect in everything and has a lot of luck in life, true to the saying "good people are rewarded with good things". However, in the horror film version of "Con Cam", there will be many surprises with Tam's personality, life and what happens to her. "What you already know is only a small part of the truth about this character" - the actress revealed.

For veteran actors, “Con Cam” also brings them interesting experiences. Artist Quoc Cuong shared that the character Hai Hoang that he plays in the film is the one that has the most versions when he received the script. The director and the scriptwriting team edited this character a lot, “and after each edit, it became more and more terrible,” as he revealed.

As for Meritorious Artist Hanh Thuy, her role as Bach Lao in the film, although not a long-term role, is quite special. “This role has a very different appearance, pose, and gender compared to the previous characters I have played. I find the role of Bach Lao an interesting highlight for myself,” the actress shared.

As for Meritorious Artist Ngoc Hiep, she said this is the film in which the actors are allowed to be most creative. “This is also a challenge because we have to make the audience see the characters come to life in the film, not just the actors acting in the film.”

Currently, the film crew is trying to overcome the harsh weather to complete filming scenes in many places such as Quang Tri , Hue... The film is expected to be released on September 27.
