Vietnamese folk songs performed by international artists at the "Jazz & Friends Concert"

Sharing at the press conference, Associate Professor Dr. Le Anh Tuan - Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music shared: "The 5th "Jazz & Friends Concert" program is held with the purpose of connecting artists with the audience. Introducing to the public, Vietnamese Jazz music lovers professional and quality music products. With the spirit that Vietnamese Jazz music needs to be developed, nurtured, trained, and invested in more".

According to Dr. Nguyen Tien Manh - Head of Jazz Department, Vietnam National Academy of Music, this program was planned more than a year ago, is the effort of the whole team with the desire to show gratitude to the first generation, teachers, lecturers who built and developed in the training, performance, scientific research of the Vietnamese Jazz industry, as well as to introduce to the public the generation of young Vietnamese Jazz artists and Vietnamese Jazz to the world.

Also at the announcement ceremony, Professor Hakan Rydin (Sweden) shared: "I would like to congratulate the Jazz Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music on its 10th anniversary. I believe this will be an important milestone in the development of the department.

Two decades ago, I came to Vietnam and worked with the previous Board of Directors of the Academy, when the Jazz Department did not exist, it was just a very small department in the Classics Department. However, since then, the Jazz Department has developed and become the Jazz Department. In particular, up to now, the Jazz Department has approached and integrated with international Jazz. With the quality of training and performance art, the artists of the Jazz Department have improved and can perform with world Jazz artists.

Talking about the reason for being attached to Vietnam for two decades, Professor Hakan Rydin said that he loves Hanoi and Vietnam very much because the time he lived in Hanoi was a wonderful time.

Furthermore, according to this Professor, Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1969. Because of the good feelings of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries and the relationship between the people of the two countries, he has had a long time attached to Hanoi.

The works performed are the Vietnamese folk song Inh la oi, along with a number of Vietnamese and international Jazz works such as: Nostalgia, Moonlight in Vermont, Breezin...

The Jazz Department was established in 2013, the youngest department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music. The Jazz Department has trained many generations of lecturers as well as many excellent Jazz performers. It is a prestigious place to introduce highly specialized musical talents to serve musical life.

The Jazz Department has 23 lecturers, including famous Jazz lecturers and artists such as: Luu Quang Minh, Hoang Tung, Quyen Van Minh, Quyen Thien Dac, Nguyen Tien Manh, Luong Xuan Thinh...
