Replacing the mobile power transformer for repairs will not disrupt electricity supply in the mountainous A Lưới region.

When demand increases

Experience from recent years shows that during the dry season in Hue City, the heat is often prolonged and severe. Not only government agencies, factories, and enterprises, but also households consume significantly more electricity, with an increase of 20-30%.

This year, extreme weather is predicted, with the potential for prolonged periods of intense heat during the dry season compared to previous years. Based on this, Hue Power Company forecasts that the peak power demand during this year's dry season in Hue City will reach 400MW. This also serves as the basis for Hue Power Company to forecast the actual power supply and load situation of the distribution grid under its management, and to develop operational plans to ensure power supply during the dry season of the distribution power system in 2025.

Currently, units under the Hue Power Company are intensifying inspections of the load network of transformers and power supply lines, forecasting load network conditions, and developing operating procedures for situations when power grid failures occur. In addition, the units are stepping up inspections of power sources and grids; and urgently completing repairs and maintenance of the power grid in the first quarter of 2025…

A current regulation implemented by Hue Power Company stipulates that units carrying out repair, maintenance, or new construction of the power grid must strictly apply solutions to avoid power outages for customers. These include using generators for critical loads, mobile transformers, live-line repairs, and cleaning insulators with high-pressure water. Units are also strengthening technical management and implementing solutions to increase capacity and redistribute loads promptly at distribution substations at risk of full or overloaded conditions during the dry season.

Hue Power Company also intensified the effective exploitation and operation of the Remote Control Center in monitoring and operating the power grid, focusing on exploiting data from remote metering systems from 220/110kV substations and 22kV distribution substations to detect abnormalities early; ensuring sufficient spare parts and equipment are readily available to handle incidents and restore power to customers as quickly as possible.

To achieve the goal of ensuring safe and continuous power supply, Hue Power Company adheres to the operational directives of the Central Power System Dispatch Center, closely coordinating with Power Transmission Company 2, Quang Tri Power Company, and Da Nang Power Company Limited in the operation of the 110kV inter-provincial and inter-city power grid, ensuring maximum support for power supply to loads in Hue City.

Saving electricity helps reduce pressure from power shortages.

To ensure safe operation of the power grid, continuous power supply, and energy saving practices, Hue Power Company (PC Hue) has requested its units to implement measures to protect power grid corridors and promote safe electricity usage among the public. Specifically, it has intensified inspections to protect the safe operation and power supply of high-voltage power grids. Accordingly, PC Hue is coordinating with local authorities to promote awareness of protecting power grid corridors; and at the same time, taking action against organizations and individuals violating the safe operation of high-voltage power grids.

Hue Power Company also proactively works with large electricity consumers in the area. Through this, they share information, solutions, and plans of the electricity sector in ensuring a safe and stable electricity supply for loads in the area.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dai Phuc, Director of Hue Power Company, in addition to the above technical solutions, to maintain a stable and continuous power supply during the dry season, customers need to use electricity efficiently and economically. Therefore, Hue Power Company continues to promote energy saving habits among customers, such as: turning off lights, fans, and air conditioners in the house when not in use; using air conditioners to cool at a moderate temperature, from 26 degrees Celsius or higher, along with a fan; and utilizing natural light and energy sources instead of conventional electrical equipment. Companies, factories, and enterprises should balance their production schedules to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours.

PC Hue will regularly organize consulting programs for customers investing in energy-saving and high-efficiency production equipment. At the same time, it will coordinate the monitoring and control of electricity quality in localities, units, and production facilities with high electricity consumption...

In reality, energy conservation has proven to be the most effective and feasible solution to mitigate electricity shortages during the dry season. Currently, the electricity supply is sufficient to meet customer needs, and no shortages have occurred. However, in the upcoming hot summer months, customer demand for electricity will increase. To mitigate electricity shortages, along with the electricity supply solutions from the power sector, the cooperation and joint efforts of each citizen are needed in using electricity more efficiently and rationally…
