Up to this point, the 7th Quang Tri Province Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 has basically completed its preparations with the highest spirit and determination. This is a major sports festival for students across the province to meet, exchange, and demonstrate their passion and sports talents; evaluate physical education and sports activities in schools; and at the same time select excellent students to compete in provincial sports teams to participate in the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024.

Right from the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, 9 district, town and city education and training departments and 35 school units have developed a plan to organize the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the grassroots level and thoroughly disseminated the purpose and meaning of the Phu Dong Sports Festival to all cadres, teachers and students.
The grassroots Phu Dong Sports Festival started in October 2023 and took place enthusiastically from January to early March 2024. With the careful attention in the organization of local leaders, the Department of Education and Training and the active participation of teachers and students in the competition and cheering, the grassroots Phu Dong Sports Festival took place successfully according to the set plan.
Mr. Le Ngoc Thanh, chief specialist of the Department of Secondary Education - Continuing Education, Department of Education and Training, said that by March 18, 2024, the grassroots Phu Dong Sports Festival had completed its organization, with nearly 20,000 athletes participating in sports such as volleyball, soccer, shuttlecock, table tennis, badminton, swimming, athletics, chess, karate, aerobics, and pole pushing.
The organization of the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the grassroots level is on an appropriate scale, solemn, economical, ensuring absolute safety for people and property; the number of participating athletes is greater and of better quality than previous Phu Dong Sports Festivals.
The athletes competed with all their might in the spirit of solidarity, honesty, nobility and determination to achieve the highest results. The referee team conducted the competitions impartially, objectively and accurately.
The Phu Dong Sports Festival at the grassroots level has had a positive impact on focusing on and improving the quality of school sports, especially improving the quality of physical education teaching for teachers and students participating in physical training, improving health, meeting the task of studying and comprehensively educating students; strengthening facilities and equipment for teaching and learning physical education, organizing extracurricular physical education activities and sports competitions in schools.
After the grassroots Phu Dong Sports Festival ended, the Departments of Education and Training and schools immediately started the work of selecting, training and educating athletes to participate in the 7th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024. Currently, 9 Departments of Education and Training and 35 schools have registered the list of participants in 11 sports with 85 events at the Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival, with about 4,401 athletes participating.
In particular, the work of checking the records and personnel of athletes competing in 7 sports of the first round (from March 27-31) was completed on March 20, with about 1,735 athletes registered to participate; it is expected to complete the work of checking the records and personnel of athletes competing in 4 sports that have not been organized and many remaining competitions of other sports of the second round (from April 8-12) on April 4, with about 2,666 athletes participating. Currently, the competition venues have basically completed the preparation work well, ensuring facilities, tools, and equipment for the competition. The 7th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival opens at 8:00 a.m. on April 8, 2024 at the Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium and closes at 2:00 p.m. on April 12, 2024 at the Department of Education and Training.
Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Mai Huy Phuong said: With the attention of the provincial leaders, the efforts and close coordination of the Department of Education and Training and related agencies and units in performing assigned tasks, up to now, the preparation work for the Phu Dong Provincial Sports Festival has completed important contents and tasks such as: locations for the opening and closing ceremonies, competition organization ensuring adequate facilities and equipment; the referee team in charge of the competitions has been professionally trained and has a good grasp of the laws and regulations, upholding the sense of responsibility in performing tasks; the units have registered quality athletes as well as plans to ensure good management, safety in accommodation and competition for the athletes.
Other units have developed plans and assigned specific tasks, arranged forces to carry out information and propaganda tasks with rich and diverse content about the provincial student sports festival; ensured security, order, traffic safety, health...
During the organization of the competitions, the Department of Education and Training focused on discovering and selecting excellent athletes for the provincial teams; developing a training plan to have the best athletes to compete in the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival.
With the active and effective participation in a high sense of responsibility of provincial and district departments and agencies and school units; together with the high determination of athletes in competition; consensus in society and enthusiastic support of parents and students, the 7th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 will take place successfully and impressively in many aspects, imbued with the colors of Quang Tri school sports.
