Community tourism development
Launched in August 2022, the Jok Nam Nung community tourism group (DLCĐ), Nam Nung commune, Krong No district is a place to promote and introduce the unique cultural and lifestyle features of the M'nong people.
With two main participants, Ja Rah and Jok Ju, the group initially had 26 members, later increasing to more than 40 members. As a form of community-based tourism, here, everyone is assigned very clear tasks according to each group: gong group, brocade weaving group, culinary group, service group... Although it was established not long ago, the Jok Nam Nung community-based tourism has welcomed thousands of visitors.
Visitors to Jok Nam Nung not only experience staying in a stilt house and enjoy the traditional cuisine of the M'nong people, but also join in the gong rhythms, dances, enjoy the spicy wine, experience brocade weaving, knitting and enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls in the area. Cultural features that seem familiar to the locals become new and attractive to visitors from near and far:
Among the more than 40 members of the DLCĐ group, in addition to the elderly artisans of the gong teams, there are also many enthusiastic young people participating.
Y Nhut shared: "Being guided and taught by artisans, I feel proud to contribute to preserving the unique cultural features of my people. Joining the DLCCĐ group also gives me the opportunity to introduce the cultural identity of my people to tourists, and at the same time learn many new things."
Although the income from tourism is not significant, since welcoming tourists, people have gradually realized the benefits of community-based tourism, and have been more proactive in preserving traditional culture and restoring handicrafts. The young generation understands and loves their ethnic culture. The unique cultural values of the M'nong people are spread and promoted.
To exploit and promote the potential of community-based tourism, the Provincial People's Committee approved the Project on Developing Tourism Products, Building a Community-based Tourism Model Associated with Krong No Volcano Geopark.
