Preserving culture, strengthening community cohesion
Culture is considered the soul of the nation, playing an important role in protecting identity and solidarity. Dak Nong is home to many ethnic minorities, with a diverse and rich culture.
Therefore, building and developing ethnic cultures not only preserves identity but also strengthens community cohesion. At the same time, building grassroots cultural institutions also helps disseminate knowledge and raise social awareness.
Cultural development, therefore, is not only a long-term task but also an effective "soft defense" strategy in the work of protecting political security, social order and safety, and preventing peaceful evolution plots.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Nong, from 2023 to present, the provincial Department of Culture has implemented hundreds of cultural, artistic and cultural propaganda activities and programs in localities.
Propaganda is focused on remote areas and ethnic minority areas. The main content of propaganda is to arouse the spirit of solidarity and promote traditional cultural values in the community.
Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Nong assessed that promoting traditional cultural values not only helps unite the community but also creates strong resistance against peaceful evolution plots.
Over the past two years, Dak Nong has organized more than 200 thematic propaganda sessions on history, revolutionary traditions, and national culture at schools and community centers.
Through these campaigns, thousands of students and people have been equipped with knowledge about their homeland's history, unique cultural values, and how to identify false information on social networks.
Ms. Thi Nam, Ol Bu Tung village, Quang Tin commune, Dak R'lap district, said that thanks to the propaganda, she has a better understanding of the responsibility to protect the cultural identity of her people. She is not only proud of her origin but also knows how to be vigilant against information that aims to divide national unity.
In recent years, the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" has become the core in creating consensus in the community in Dak Nong.
By the end of 2023, more than 85% of families in Dak Nong achieved the title of "Cultural Family", in which many villages and hamlets have become models in preserving traditional beauty.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh, R'But hamlet, Quang Son commune, Dak Glong district shared: "We always remind each other about how to behave and preserve the good traditions of the nation. These values help us bond more closely together."
Along with propaganda work, the press and media in Dak Nong play an important role in building a cultural defense line for the province.
The press and media have regularly provided positive information and promoted cultural values to refute false arguments. In particular, from 2020 to present, Dak Nong Newspaper has published about 1,000 articles on protecting culture and ethnicity. Many of these articles reflect the real life of the people and efforts to preserve cultural identity.
In addition, traditional art activities such as Then singing, folk songs, traditional festivals... are regularly organized by the province. These activities not only create a playground for people but also help spread beautiful cultural values.
Create a deep cultural space
Over the past years, cultural construction and development activities in Dak Nong have achieved many important results. In particular, the province has built a cultural space containing many unique values of the Southern Central Highlands.
According to the assessment of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Dak Nong's cultural space has been initially exploited to develop tourism and create an important shield in protecting political security and social order and safety.
Dak Nong currently has 15 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots ranked by the State, including 1 special national historical relic, 8 national relics and 6 provincial historical relics.
The province currently has 165 festivals and rituals of ethnic minorities. The province has restored 53 traditional festivals and rituals; 38 gong clubs, teams, and groups; 4 clubs of Tinh lute and Then singing are maintaining regular activities.
In particular, at the end of 2020, UNSECO recognized the UNSECO Dak Nong Global Geopark. This is a space containing many indigenous cultural values typical of Dak Nong land, which has been initially exploited to develop ecological, geological and cultural tourism.
As of July 1, 2024, Dak Nong Geopark has successfully passed the first re-evaluation in 2023 and has been officially recognized as “Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark” for the period 2024-2027.
Dak Nong currently has 40 ethnic groups living together, with more than 202,300 ethnic minorities. Local ethnic minorities (M'nong, Ma, Ede) have more than 13,900 households, with 66,500 people.
The province has been strengthening cooperation with neighboring provinces as well as international organizations to learn and share experiences in protecting and developing cultural values.
At the Conference on Research and Dissemination of the Topic "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style on promoting cultural values and human strength of Dak Nong in building the homeland and country" held on February 16, 2023, Comrade Tran Xuan Hai, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee at that time emphasized that peaceful evolution is a challenge, but if we know how to turn culture into a solid defense line, we can completely prevent and repel these risks.
Building a cultural defense line is not only the responsibility of the government but also requires the participation of the entire community. Dak Nong, with its remarkable efforts, is gradually asserting its position as a model in fighting against peaceful evolution with cultural power. This is the way to protect the core values of the nation, maintain peace and sustainable development for the province.
