As Ramadan comes to an end, Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr. This is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar. During this time, Muslims gather with family and friends to pray, exchange gifts, and enjoy delicious food. It is a time for forgiveness, compassion, and unity, as people celebrate the end of a month of spiritual renewal.
Eid al-Fitr celebrations vary from country to country, but they all include: Visiting family and friends, giving gifts, enjoying parties, wearing new clothes, and visiting graves of loved ones.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Vietnam Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy gave an overview of Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr reminds Muslims to be grateful for what they have and to help those less fortunate. This is called zakat (charity), one of the five pillars of Islam. Zakat is an obligation under which Muslims who can afford it will donate to charity for those less fortunate. The amount of zakat increases significantly during Ramadan and continues to be an important part of Eid al-Fitr.

In Saudi Arabia, after performing Eid rituals, people often gather with children - who are given new clothes, toys and "Eidia" gifts that may include money (similar to lucky money in Vietnam). Then, everyone enjoys coffee, dates, sweets and traditional dishes.
"Eid Al-Fitr has many similarities with the Vietnamese New Year customs. Organizing Eid Al-Fitr in Hanoi is a good opportunity for Saudi Arabia to introduce its image as well as Arab and Muslim countries to Vietnamese friends," said Ambassador Mohammed.
At the program, the Embassies of Bangladesh, Palestine, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran... also participated in introducing their countries' culture and customs during Eid Al-Fitr, and showed video clips introducing their culture, country and people.
Attending the ceremony, guests not only immersed themselves in the vibrant, jubilant atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr, but also experienced the Arab and Islamic cultural space; explored and learned about customs, cultural identities as well as enjoyed the typical dishes, cakes and cuisine of these countries.
The ceremony also featured many diverse cultural activities such as henna painting, circus performances, unique magic, and statue painting for children...
