Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang was awarded the Medal of Honor for his important contributions to the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and France and the development of culture, sports and tourism in Vietnam.

On the afternoon of July 25, at the Vietnam Cultural Center in Paris, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, presided over the ceremony to award the Medal "For the cause of culture, sports and tourism" to Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang.
Attending the ceremony were officials and staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies, and representatives of a number of Vietnamese associations in France.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism assessed that during his more than three years of work, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang has made many important contributions to promoting multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and France and to the development of culture, sports and tourism in Vietnam.
The Minister said that France is a key area with a large Vietnamese population and is one of the countries with a strategic partnership with Vietnam.
Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is very interested in implementing cultural activities and cultural diplomacy in this country and considers this a priority task in foreign affairs.
The contributions of the Vietnamese Embassy, headed by Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang, and Vietnamese representative agencies in France are always particularly meaningful.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: “Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang has shown the image of a person who is passionate about the development of culture, tourism and sports of the country, together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, determined to enhance the image of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends. The results achieved have helped international friends understand more about Vietnam.”
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, culture has the soft power of the nation and is the driving force of sustainable development. Promoting foreign cultural activities is a common task of the diplomatic and cultural sectors.
In recent years, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has actively coordinated with Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, especially the Vietnamese Embassy in France, to organize many activities to promote Vietnamese culture, tourism and sports, creating a bridge between Vietnam and international friends.
According to the Minister, the Vietnamese diplomatic agency in France has also made important contributions to promoting cooperation and cultural exchange between France and Vietnam, helping French culture and Vietnamese culture to be in the same flow for common development, thereby contributing to the building of an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung expressed his hope that in the coming time, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang will continue to make positive contributions to the development of culture, sports and tourism of the country, acting as a bridge between Vietnam and France, contributing to spreading Vietnamese cultural values in France and Europe.
Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang sincerely thanked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the recognition and affirmed that this was not only a reward for him personally but also a recognition of the tireless efforts of all officers and staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in promoting Vietnamese culture, sports and tourism to French and European friends.
The Ambassador said that with the attention, support and coordination of the Ministry and relevant units, in recent years, the Embassy and the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France have organized many diverse and rich activities, contributing to further beautifying the image of the country and people of Vietnam.
In particular, 2023 has left a strong impression with a series of exciting events, from art exhibitions, traditional music performances to Vietnamese culinary weeks on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of Vietnam-France strategic partnership.
The event "Vietnamese Cultural Night", with its vibrant colors and unique sounds of the nation, personally directed by Minister Nguyen Van Hung in November 2023 at Le Trianon Theater, Paris, left an unforgettable impression on the French public.
In the emotional atmosphere of commemorating the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang affirmed: “Receiving the Medal 'For the cause of culture, sports and tourism' today means accepting a responsibility before the Party and the General Secretary.
The staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese representative agencies in France vow to make more efforts to contribute to the strength of the country and people of Vietnam in all aspects, making the Vietnamese identity more and more radiant to the world, creating many new and solid bridges between the two peoples and two countries of Vietnam and France."
After the ceremony to present the Medal to Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang, Minister Nguyen Van Hung presented the Ministry's decision to re-appoint Ms. Anoa Suzzanne Dussol Perran, French nationality, as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to the French Republic for the 2024-2029 term.
The Minister affirmed that with all her love for her homeland and country, and her willingness to contribute to the development of the country's culture and tourism, the "Vietnam House" initiative she built has left many deep impressions in the fields of culture, sports and tourism. These extremely important contributions have helped Vietnamese and French tourism continue to develop in recent years.
The Minister expressed his hope that Ms. Anoa will continue to accompany the Ministry on the new journey, continuing the successes in the development of the tourism industry between the two countries and between Vietnam and Europe.
Contribute to bringing more international friends to Vietnam, helping the tourism industry to meet the target of welcoming 18 million tourists in 2024.
Also on the afternoon of July 25, Minister Nguyen Van Hung presented the Vietnam Cultural Center in France with two valuable books by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The Minister emphasized that the General Secretary was a theorist who left behind many works that he had summarized during his leadership.
Among them, the book Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam is a work summarizing the theory of our Party's innovation path, which has been welcomed by international friends and studied by many Communist Parties and other political parties.
According to the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the second book, Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity, is an important handbook that cultural workers must deeply understand in order to spread and promote Vietnamese culture to international friends, making efforts to contribute to building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung also presented the Center with the book "A Thousand Years of Vietnamese National Culture" which introduces concisely, briefly, and generally about the origin, era, characteristics, and unique and typical values of the country's national treasures through historical periods.
He expressed his hope that "through books, the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France will introduce to international friends the nation's precious heritages to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam."
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: "That is also the most vivid expression for us to remember our beloved General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong."
