Quy Nhon University has apologized after a student was told by a university admissions staff member, "You study at a specialized school but don't know how to think of others."
On the evening of June 8th, Quy Nhon University posted an apology regarding the communication style of its staff on the "Quy Nhon University Admissions" fanpage.
This stems from an anonymous post on a student forum expressing frustration about the response from a fanpage staff member. According to the post, at 12:52 PM yesterday, a student messaged the fanpage asking if the school offered direct admission to non-specialized high school students with an IELTS score of 6.5. The admissions officer responded: "Don't you think the teachers need to rest at this time?"
The student quickly apologized, explaining that they were preoccupied with researching admissions information and therefore didn't pay attention to the time. However, the person managing the fan page continued: "You're a student from a specialized high school, and you don't even think about others?"
At 1:33 PM, the student messaged back, offering feedback on the fanpage's response, but the staff member continued to argue, claiming to be "hurt" by the student's words.
"Can anyone tell me where I went wrong? This is the first time I've received messages like this, so I'm very shocked. I apologized afterwards, but I still received such offensive messages. What should I do?", reads the post. The post includes a screenshot of the conversation.

Speaking to VnExpress on the morning of June 9th, Associate Professor Do Ngoc My, Rector of Quy Nhon University, confirmed the incident. He stated that the "Quy Nhon University Admissions" fanpage is the official information and counseling channel of the university. The team managing the fanpage consists of staff from the Admissions Counseling and Business Relations Center, specialists, and lecturers from several faculties.
"The school apologizes for the behavior of the counseling staff. We have learned from this experience and have requested immediate improvements in the quality of counseling," Associate Professor My said.
The person who responded to the student in the incident has been removed from the counseling team, he added.
