Ho Chi Minh City National University aims to attract 100 visiting professors in the next 5 years

NDO - In the period 2025-2030, Ho Chi Minh City National University aims to appoint 100 visiting professors. In 2025 and 2026 alone, this unit will invite and appoint 50 visiting professors.

On February 7, Ho Chi Minh City National University held a seminar to collect opinions on the Visiting Professor Program.

The seminar aims to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; at the same time, continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 19-NQ/DU of Ho Chi Minh City National University on attracting, retaining and developing excellent young scientists and leading scientists.

The Visiting Professor Program aims to attract and promote cooperation with outstanding experts and scientists around the world, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and research at Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The program aims to appoint 100 visiting professors in the period 2025-2030. In 2025 and 2026, 50 visiting professors will be invited and appointed. The individuals invited to participate in the program will be professors, associate professors, experts, scientists, and managers with outstanding achievements, working at universities, research institutes, international organizations, and technology corporations around the world; with ambitions, aspirations, and wishes to contribute, build, develop education, science-technology, and innovation for Ho Chi Minh City National University in particular and for Vietnam in general.

According to the appointment criteria, candidates must have outstanding achievements in teaching, research and technology transfer, with contributions demonstrated through international publications, patents and technology products.

In particular, the program prioritizes the fields of biotechnology, biomedicine, chip-semiconductor, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, material technology, new energy, new logistics, international finance, climate change and sustainable development, Vietnamese history and culture, etc.

Visiting professors will be appointed by the President of Ho Chi Minh City National University for a maximum term of 5 years, a minimum term of 1 year and can be extended; will enjoy competitive remuneration and support for travel and accommodation while working at Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Expectations from visiting professors

The program not only aims to improve the quality of teaching but also contributes to promoting scientific research and innovation at Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Visiting professors are expected to contribute, build and improve talent training programs; impart experience, update knowledge and the latest technology trends to students and postgraduates.

At the same time, propose, develop and co-chair research programs and interdisciplinary research projects to address urgent challenges in Vietnam and the region.

In addition, visiting professors also participate in creative startup activities, supporting students and lecturers in developing highly practical startup ideas and projects.

The program is also a premise to contribute to strengthening cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City National University and universities, research institutes and businesses around the world, expanding learning and research opportunities for students.

Ho Chi Minh City National University will accept applications from March 2025 and organize a thorough review board based on criteria of capacity and scientific achievements.

Qualified candidates will undergo an in-person or online interview before being officially appointed. Appointment decisions are expected to be announced in May 2025.

For professors with special achievements, who wish to contribute, build, develop science and technology, and innovate for Ho Chi Minh City National University and are introduced by a prestigious scientist inside and outside Ho Chi Minh City National University, the Review Board will propose the director of this unit to consider, decide to invite and appoint without having to go through the appointment process.
