In Vietnam, goat testicles (testicles of male goats, also known as goat testicles) are not only a popular ingredient in cooking, but are also considered a nutritious specialty that many diners are willing to spend millions to buy.

According to medicine, goat testicles contain a lot of protein, minerals and vitamins, which are effective in enhancing physiological ability, especially in men.

Mr. Nguyen Dung - owner of a long-standing goat restaurant in Ninh Binh said that not only goat meat, goat testicles are also a popular dish, often "sold out" despite the high price.

According to Mr. Dung, the reason why goat testicles are quite expensive is because this material is limited in quantity. Each goat can only produce 1 set of testicles.

Goat testicles are sold for about 200,000-400,000 VND/set, depending on size and place of sale. The price of goat testicles in Ninh Binh is more expensive, up to a million VND/set, depending on the age of the goat.

“The goat testicles taken from goats that graze naturally in the rocky mountains of Ninh Binh are believed to be of the best quality. Because this land has a favorable climate and many different types of herbs and medicinal leaves, when the goats eat them, the nutrients will accumulate in their bodies,” said Mr. Dung.

This man also revealed that goat testicles can be processed into many delicious dishes such as grilled, stir-fried, stewed with Chinese herbs, steamed, cooked in hot pot, porridge or soaked in wine.

Among them, steamed goat testicles are the most popular dish, loved by diners because they are easy to prepare and still retain their freshness and natural sweetness.

Mr. Tung Lam (in Hanoi) once enjoyed goat testicles stewed with Chinese herbs in Ninh Binh and commented that the dish had a chewy, crunchy texture and a strange, quite attractive taste.

Impressed by the taste, he occasionally contacts the local goat restaurant to order goat testicles.

“The quantity of fresh goat testicles is not much every day, so I have to tell the shop owner a few weeks or even a month in advance to collect them in one batch to have enough sets to buy and treat my family and close friends to enjoy,” Mr. Lam shared.

From this ingredient, he often makes stewed Chinese medicine and stir-fried lemongrass and chili.

According to him, preparing goat testicles is quite simple, just heat it over a fire or burn straw to tighten the outer skin, then wash it with wine or ginger water to clean and deodorize.

Next, people split the goat testicles in half, cut them into bite-sized pieces and prepare them as desired.

Goat testicles should only be cooked to keep them crispy and fresh, suitable for both men and women to enjoy.
