On the afternoon of July 20, the People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam ) announced that the authorities had just successfully rescued 23 people on a canoe that sank on Cu Lao Cham Island (Hoi An).
Initial information, at around 1:00 p.m. the same day, the tourist canoe Qna-1296 was carrying passengers to swim and snorkel in the Hon Tai area, Cu Lao Cham Island (Tan Hiep Commune, Hoi An City) when it suddenly flooded and gradually sank.
At this time, on the canoe were captain Le Tien L. (born in 1986), deputy captain Truong Minh D. (born in 1975), sailor Nguyen L. (born in 1990), and 20 tourists.
Upon receiving the news, Cu Lao Cham Border Guard Station immediately mobilized forces and vehicles to the scene for rescue.
At around 2:00 p.m. the same day, all 23 people on the tourist canoe that had the accident were brought safely to shore.
Authorities are salvaging the canoe.
