Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, said that for many years, the Government, ministries, sectors and localities have made efforts to invest and implement many response and adaptation solutions, but Vietnam is still a country heavily affected by climate change, environmental pollution and resource degradation.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, with its responsibility as the agency performing the function of state management of the country's natural resources, needs to strengthen propaganda, disseminate knowledge, organize activities, and skills to participate in climate change response activities and environmental protection for people to participate, including veteran members.
"Although veteran members have excellently completed the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people, they are still ready to participate in the "war" to protect the environment and adapt to climate change to contribute to building the country greener, more beautiful and more sustainably developed," said Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh affirmed that this coordination program will be implemented simultaneously from the central to local levels, which will bring about effectiveness in environmental protection. Accordingly, the activities in the program will not only impact awareness but also gradually change and create environmentally friendly living habits for veterans as well as all people in the community.
