Bold in thinking, determined in action, with the support of all levels of the Veterans Association, many Veterans Association members in Yen Mo district have risen to become exemplary models in production and business.
Having fought in the Ho Chi Minh campaign, being exposed to toxic chemicals and being a type 2 disabled soldier, but after completing his military duty and returning to normal life, veteran Vu The Huan in Tay Ha hamlet, Yen Nhan commune continued to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, actively working in production, participating in local economic development. In 2016, taking advantage of the commune's land consolidation policy when implementing the new rural construction program, he boldly rented 1 hectare of land to grow acacia trees. After 6 years, when the acacia trees were ripe for harvest, he sold all of them and switched to growing 200 pomelo trees for the king, combining them with raising ducks, geese, and turkeys under the canopy. By applying science and technology to production and taking care of the trees properly, by 2021, the pomelos had their first harvest. Currently, his family's economic development model brings in an income of over 150 million VND/year.
"To develop as it is today, along with the efforts and determination of my family, I also have the active support of the Veterans Association at all levels in participating in training courses, transferring science and technology, visiting effective economic development models in and outside the district, creating conditions to access preferential capital to invest in expanding the model" - Veteran Vu The Huan shared.
Not only being exemplary and leading in developing the family economy, in his position as Director of the Cooperative, Veteran Vu The Huan is always dynamic, creative, and sensitive to the market mechanism, leading Vinh Yen Agricultural Cooperative (Yen Nhan Commune) to develop more and more, creating many jobs and stable income for cooperative members. In addition, he also actively shares experiences, encourages and helps Veteran members and people in the commune to boldly invest in suitable economic development models, bringing high efficiency. Thanks to that, many households have become well-off and have made positive contributions to the local new rural construction program.
In recent years, the movement of war veterans helping each other develop the economy has been promoted by the War Veterans Association at all levels in the district with flexible and appropriate methods closely following the plans and orientations for local socio-economic development and the situation and conditions of members. The Associations at all levels have focused on directing, guiding and mobilizing members to promote their potential and strengths, taking advantage of resources and support policies from the Central and local governments to build and develop appropriate production and business models for high economic efficiency. Coordinate with all levels and sectors to organize training courses for members on techniques for caring for crops and livestock, and converting to suitable occupations to develop production. Propaganda and mobilize members to apply science, technology and techniques towards organic, quality and safe production.
Clearly identifying loans as an important driving force for production development and job creation, the Association at all levels regularly maintains good entrusted activities and strengthens inspection, supervision, and propaganda work so that members and people can access capital sources from the Social Policy Bank according to Government regulations.
Up to now, the District Veterans Association is managing over 94 billion VND with over 2,200 members receiving loans. In addition, the Association continues to maintain and manage well the capital of the Central Association with a total amount of 170 million VND, lending to 3 members to expand and develop their family economy. Thanks to the reasonable use of loan capital, effective investment in production and business, all members have repaid interest and loan capital on time. Therefore, in Yen Mo district, there are more and more examples of veterans who are good at production and business.
Comrade Luu Xuan Ha, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Yen Mo district, said: The movement of war veterans helping each other to develop the economy has developed very strongly, in depth and substantially; the Association at all levels has linked the goals and targets of the movement with the emulation movement "Exemplary war veterans" and campaigns.
Through the movement, the comradeship, team spirit, will, determination and strengths of members have been aroused in building and replicating new economic models for high economic efficiency.
Identifying this as a key task, in the coming time, all levels of the War Veterans Association in the district will continue to promote propaganda and encourage war veterans to uphold the spirit of self-reliance, overcome difficulties, fully exploit potentials and resources for economic development, thereby contributing to increasing income, reducing the rate of poor households, working with all levels, sectors and localities in the district to complete the goal of striving to achieve advanced new rural standards by the end of 2024 and developing the district's socio-economy throughout the term.
