This is a meaningful and practical cultural and artistic activity to celebrate the country's major holidays and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
According to the Organizing Committee, the Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition is an important event for the Vietnamese photography community, held every two years, to gather and introduce outstanding and outstanding photographic works to the public. This is also an opportunity to summarize and evaluate the achievements and artistic creations of the Vietnamese photography community in the past two years; encourage artists to create many new works of value in content and art, serving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. At the same time, the event contributes to introducing and promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the domestic and international public; helping management agencies and the photography industry have an overview and correct assessment of the current situation of the Vietnamese photography community, issues in photographic creation in recent times, thereby finding the right direction for development and direction for Vietnamese photography in the new period.
The 2024 Vietnam Art Photography Competition and Exhibition is held nationwide. The competition is open to professional and non-professional photographers, Vietnamese citizens and Vietnamese people living and working abroad, aged 18 and over. The entries must reflect life, people, culture, landscapes, nature, efforts in the fight against natural disasters and epidemics, the work of building and defending the Fatherland of Vietnam; issues of contemporary life; thoughts, opinions, ideas about life and other content aimed at the values of truth, goodness, beauty...
The Organizing Committee encourages unique and novel creative trends, experiments, explorations, and ideas that reflect the breath of contemporary life; creative works on the theme of preserving and promoting Vietnamese heritage, the theme of Vietnam's integration and development, etc.
The photos participating in the contest include 2 categories: realistic photos and conceptual photos. In which, the realistic photo category is a work created using traditional, realistic methods; the Organizing Committee does not accept collages or photos that distort reality (except for panorama collages). For conceptual photos, the author is allowed to use any technical measures, technology, etc. to create. The Organizing Committee does not accept photos created by artificial intelligence (AI).
The works participating in the contest were created between August 2022 and June 2024. The Organizing Committee will judge and select about 250 - 300 excellent photographic works to organize the exhibition. Of which, about 30 - 35 excellent works will be selected to award prizes. It is expected that 32 prizes will be awarded, including 3 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 8 Bronze Medals, and 15 Encouragement Prizes.
The award ceremony and exhibition opening in Hanoi is expected to take place in early October 2024. The award ceremony and opening in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province is expected to take place in late October 2024. The online exhibition will take place from October 2024.
