After the introduction of the members, the Executive Board of the Vietnam-Switzerland Economic Forum held its first meeting, focusing on the vision and mission, as well as discussing areas in which the two countries can strengthen cooperation in the coming time.
“Our goal is to create a platform that not only enhances mutual understanding but also fosters deep interactions and innovative partnerships between Vietnam and Switzerland... The Forum is not only a gathering place but also an incubator for ideas, cooperation and transformative projects that will benefit both our countries,” emphasized Philipp Rösler, Chairman of the Vietnam-Switzerland Economic Forum.
Also at the event, members of the Executive Board shared their views on the action plan, registration procedures, funding forms, financial rules, operating budget and strategies to promote the image of Vietnam-Switzerland relations.
Ms. Rachel Isenschmid, who has many years of experience in asset management and will be in charge of public relations for the Vietnam-Switzerland Economic Forum, shared: “With the suggestion of the Vietnamese Embassy in Bern, we have been developing the idea over the past time of organizing a cooperation platform to promote the strength of Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in Switzerland, as well as the interests of Swiss businesses and organizations in Vietnam.”
Attending the launching ceremony of the Vietnam-Switzerland Economic Forum, Ambassador Phung The Long affirmed that the Embassy and the Trade Office of Vietnam in Switzerland highly appreciated the event and hoped that there would be more and more effective activities, helping to "unlock" the potential and strength in the economies of the two countries.
Ambassador Phung The Long emphasized: “As you know, the World Economic Forum in Davos is about to take place. This is an international forum where the world's top leaders discuss the future economy. I hope that, with the support and assistance of relevant government agencies, regional and city officials, as well as the embassies of the two countries, the Vietnam-Switzerland Economic Forum will organize an annual event, together fostering the success of bilateral economic cooperation.”
In the discussion that followed, many delegates raised questions related to issues such as policies to attract talent, legal mechanisms for trade activities between the two countries, administrative procedures and logistics services. Each question was thoroughly answered by the Board of Directors and members of the Executive Board with the common spirit of "working together to foster success" for the Vietnam-Switzerland relationship, not only in the economic field but also in many other fields in the coming time.
Swiss newspaper bonpourlatete.com recently published an article highly appreciating Vietnam's economic and diplomatic achievements and efforts to produce "Make in Vietnam" chips.
The article said that Vietnam is expected to achieve a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 6-6.5% in 2024 thanks to stronger import-export and manufacturing activities. In addition, Vietnam also aims to become a new center of the semiconductor industry with a series of investment projects worth billions of USD. Vietnam aims to master 100% of the "Make in Vietnam" chip production stages and plans to train 50,000 specialized engineers by 2030.
