Supporting the development of effective agricultural economic models, building clusters of twin villages... is proof of the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, and Thanh Hoa and Hua Phan provinces in particular, which is increasingly deepening and achieving practical results.
Quan Son district officials surveyed to deploy a dry season rice growing model in Vieng Xay district.
In order to consolidate and strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation as signed in the agreement. In recent years, Quan Son district has implemented many meaningful and practical tasks, helping Vieng Xay district, Hua Phan province develop the economy and stabilize people's lives. One of the tasks that has brought about practical results is the transfer of the dry season rice cultivation model. To implement this model, Quan Son district has supported 3,600 kg of rice seeds and 32,000 kg of fertilizers distributed evenly in production areas, with 255 households participating, in 12 villages of Vieng Xay district.
According to the assessment of Mr. Nguyen Van Sinh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quan Son district, this is the first time the district has implemented support for the dry season rice cultivation model, with a scale of over 60 hectares for the neighboring district, so it has encountered difficulties, such as: people do not have knowledge and experience in dry season rice production; although surveys have been conducted, they do not fully understand the soil conditions and unusual weather developments; complex pests and diseases, while we have difficulty in providing direct technical support due to customs clearance regulations between the two countries... However, with the strong direction of the district leaders, the efforts of agricultural staff, the model has been successfully implemented, achieving high efficiency in both area and productivity. According to calculations, the 2023 winter-spring crop has ensured a cultivated area of over 60 hectares; The yield is from 5.22 to 5.58 tons/ha (the average of the whole Vieng Xay district is 5.4 tons/ha, equivalent to the average yield of the 2023 winter-spring crop of Quan Son district); the output is 324 tons; the season, sowing and planting are in accordance with the seasonal framework and production traditions of the neighboring country... The above success has been recognized and highly appreciated by the authorities and people of Vieng Xay district...
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Sinh, according to the production tradition of your country, many localities in Vieng Xay district previously only produced one rice crop per year, while the rest of the people grew crops with low productivity and efficiency or left the land fallow, causing waste of land. Supporting farmers in Vieng Xay district to grow rice in the dry season has contributed to changing farming practices, ensuring food security, promoting socio-economic development, and stabilizing the lives of the people in your district.
It is known that in addition to supporting the 2023 dry season rice model, in the period of 2018-2022, Quan Son district has supported Vieng Xay district to build many highly effective economic models, such as supporting the construction of an orange garden, 1 hectare in size, worth over 400 million VND; supporting 400 million VND to build Vieng Xay market; supporting human resources and medicine to prevent and control locusts that harm bamboo...
