Nam Tra My voters propose recognizing the Ca Dong ethnic group in the community of Vietnamese ethnic groups

At the meeting, National Assembly Delegate Vuong Quoc Thang informed voters about the content of the 7th Extraordinary Session (15th National Assembly) and the expected program for the upcoming 7th Session; and provided information on the socio-economic development situation in the country and the province in recent times.

Expressing agreement with the information reported by the National Assembly Delegate, voter Le Xuan Ha (Tra Mai commune) raised a petition related to the Ca Dong ethnic group in Nam Tra My. During the resistance wars against foreign invaders, the Ca Dong community, together with people across the country, rose up to fight the enemy, protect their land and cling to their villages.

"However, currently, the Ca Dong ethnic group is not on the list of 54 other ethnic groups. The children's birth certificates show the Ca Dong ethnic group, but their other degrees show the Xe Dang ethnic group. This makes it very difficult to unify people's records. Therefore, I hope that the Party and the State will pay attention and recognize the Ca Dong ethnic group as a separate ethnic group with a code and an identity according to the wishes of the Ca Dong community in Nam Tra My in particular and the whole country in general," Mr. Ha suggested.

Voter Tran Huu Tai (Tra Mai commune) said that local officials, especially those from the delta working in Nam Tra My, need to improve their understanding of the language, culture, and customs of ethnic minorities; at the same time, pay attention to encouraging people to develop the economy and promptly issue red house books.

"We need to pay attention to land for the people so that they have land to live on, have decent houses, and build a prosperous district center to keep up with the goal of developing Tak Po into a town in the future" - Mr. Tai shared.

Mr. Ho Van Lien - Secretary of Tra Tap Commune Party Committee proposed that the Central Government and the province should continue to implement programs and projects related to supporting the arrangement and relocation of residents and stabilizing housing for ethnic minorities. At the same time, discuss the arrangement in accordance with customs and practical conditions in mountainous areas.

"It is necessary to pay attention to investing in inter-village and inter-commune roads to create favorable conditions for people to travel, open up trade routes, and develop the socio-economy. In addition, building a cinnamon essential oil factory will help Nam Tra My people have an outlet, as well as increase income from Tra My cinnamon medicinal herbs," said Mr. Lien.

"Regarding the Ca Dong ethnic group, not now, but in the past, the local government has repeatedly petitioned and requested the National Assembly to recognize the Ca Dong ethnic group. Because the Ca Dong ethnic group has a language and culture very different from the Xe Dang ethnic group, but is classified as the Xe Dang ethnic group. That causes many consequences in the work of household registration and records between ethnic groups in the district," said Mr. Phuoc.

Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nam Tra My province, Duong Van Phuoc, shared the common difficulties of the people in the mountainous area of Nam Tra My; at the same time, he suggested that the locality should acknowledge and promptly resolve the difficulties and concerns of voters in the area.

Regarding the issue of the Ca Dong ethnic group, Mr. Phuoc said that he himself has been following it for a long time and has reflected it at the National Assembly. Because in reality, the Ca Dong ethnic group has enough conditions to be recognized as an ethnic group, and will continue to petition the National Assembly to pay attention and consider it.

In addition, in addition to responding on-site to voters' recommendations, the Office of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation will specifically synthesize issues beyond its authority to have a basis for recommendations and submit them to the National Assembly at the upcoming session.
