The above information was shared by the Chairman of the Saigon Golf Tourism Association, Mr. Trinh Nguyen Hung Dung, when talking about the potential of Vietnam's golf tourism.
Specifically, at the press conference on the "Ho Chi Minh City Golf Tourism Tournament" on the morning of November 15, Mr. Dung reported that out of 5 Koreans coming to Vietnam, more than 1 person will combine work and golf for entertainment. "Golf is an addictive sport. A long-time golfer has to go to the course 3-4 times a week, many Korean visitors to Vietnam always bring a set of golf clubs," he added. He also assessed that Korea, Japan and Chinese visitors have great potential. The Chinese visitor group is emerging as they start to have good income and want to experience the "rich man's" sport. Ho Chi Minh City has an advantage in terms of location, from here, visitors can spread out to many other satellite golf courses in Long An, Dong Nai, Phan Thiet, Ba Ria-Vung Tau. According to 2019 data (before the Covid-19 pandemic), the total number of international visitors coming to play golf in Vietnam was about 2.8 million people. Notably, a golf tourist spends an average of over 550 USD/day (over 13 million VND). The above costs include accommodation, transportation and playing on the course. Almost 100% of international golfers stay at 4-5 star hotels. Mr. Tran Giang San, General Director of Business in Vietnam of Royal Brunei Airlines, said that many Brunei tourists have a "terrible" level of spending.

In Brunei, there are currently only 3 golf courses, so they cannot meet the needs of golfers from the neighboring country. Therefore, Brunei tourists often find information and book Vietnamese golf courses to play. In addition, Brunei is also a destination for flights from Melbourne (Australia), London (UK) ..., travel agencies can completely connect and bring international golfers to experience golf courses in Brunei or Vietnam. According to Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, in Ho Chi Minh City's strategy from now until 2030, golf tourism is one of the potential products, attracting "willing to spend" tourists, besides cultural, historical, waterway tourism ... Ho Chi Minh City tourism golf tournament taking place on November 24 at Tan Son Nhat golf course, there will be representatives of many international tourism agencies, airlines, and consulates attending. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to promote this high-end tourism product. Previously, in March, Ho Chi Minh City authorities also organized the first golf tourism festival to introduce the potential and development orientation of golf tourism in Vietnam in general and the city in particular.
