The consumer price index in June 2024 increased by 0.17% over the previous month, of which 8 groups of goods and services had price indexes increasing and 3 groups of goods had price indexes decreasing.
The increase in pork prices due to African swine fever in some localities and the adjustment of medical service prices in some provinces/cities according to Circular No. 22/2023/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health are the main reasons for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2024 to increase by 0.17% compared to the previous month. Compared to December 2023, the CPI in June increased by 1.40% and compared to the same period last year, it increased by 4.34%.
Average CPI in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 4.39% compared to the second quarter of 2023. Average CPI in the first 6 months of 2024 increased by 4.08% compared to the same period last year; core inflation increased by 2.75%.
The groups of goods and services with increased price indexes include: Food and catering services group increased the most with 0.75%; Culture, entertainment and tourism group increased by 0.68%; Medicine and medical services group increased by 0.6%; Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increased by 0.35%; Beverages and tobacco group increased by 0.17%; Household equipment and appliances group increased by 0.09%; Other goods and services group increased by 0.05%; Post and telecommunications group increased by 0.02%.
Groups with price indexes decreasing: Education group decreased by 0.01%; Garment, hats and footwear group decreased by 0.11%; Transportation group decreased by 2.27%.
