The Department of Health of Ben Tre province has just sent a report to the People's Committee of Ben Tre province about the chickenpox outbreak at Alliance One Company (in Giao Long Industrial Park, Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province).
According to a report from the Ben Tre Provincial Department of Health, this garment company has a total of 4 factories. The first case of chickenpox appeared on November 6, and then more cases continued to appear sporadically at factory 3.
From November 6 to December 24, this garment company recorded a total of 83 cases of chickenpox (all in factory 3; factories 1, 2, and 4 have not recorded any cases), with 75 cases recorded on December 23 alone.
The company has implemented a number of measures to handle the epidemic, such as guiding patients to medical facilities for examination and instructing patients to ensure infection prevention procedures.
In addition, the company requires workers to return to work only when they are cured according to the diagnosis of the treating physician.
The Ben Tre health sector assessed that the chickenpox outbreak at the garment company in Giao Long Industrial Park is likely to have an increase in the number of cases because the pathogen has been spreading for a long time.
It is expected that in the coming time, the chickenpox epidemic will have a risk of widespread outbreak, with a high possibility of spreading to other companies in the industrial park and spreading to the community.
In order to minimize the risk of an outbreak, the Ben Tre Provincial Department of Health requested the Center for Disease Control to maintain its rapid response team to be ready for epidemic prevention activities and provide professional support to grassroots levels, industrial parks and clusters when an outbreak occurs.
The Ben Tre Provincial Department of Health has also requested a review of the situation of human resources, chemicals, and supplies at the unit and provided advice to the District and City People's Committees to ensure there is no shortage when an epidemic occurs.
