The project to build a road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa through the airport land to relieve traffic congestion and connect to Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport is gradually taking shape after nearly two years of construction.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), the entire Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project has reached more than 50% of the volume, expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The connecting road is 25 - 48m wide with 6 lanes, maximum speed of 50 km/h, total investment capital of more than 4,800 billion VND.

The contractor is speeding up the construction of technical infrastructure items such as drainage, lighting, and sidewalks to complete on schedule.

Another section at the end of the project is also under busy construction, the area is still located within national defense land.

The underpass at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen (Ward 2, Tan Binh District) is package number 9 of the project connecting Tran Quoc Hoan Street to Cong Hoa Street through the land of Tan Son Nhat Airport.

At the starting point of the project, adjacent to Cong Hoa Street, the roadbed of a nearly 500m long section has been completed, running parallel to C12 Street.

According to Tien Phong, compared to half a year ago, about 500m at the beginning of the road adjacent to the Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa train has been paved, forming a lane divider.

According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen underpass project has reached more than 80% of its volume and is expected to be completed in August.

The upcoming project will build another underpass at the Truong Chinh - Tan Ky Tan Quy intersection. The entire project is currently more than 50% complete and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The projects connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa and expanding Hoang Hoa Tham Street, when put into operation, will contribute to completing the transport infrastructure system and reducing traffic congestion in the Tan Son Nhat International Airport area. In particular, these projects are intended to synchronize with the T3 Passenger Terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers/year, which will be put into operation in the near future.
