This information was announced at the conference to summarize the 2023-2024 school year and deploy tasks for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool education organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training on August 14.
Ms. Luong Thi Hong Diep, Head of the Preschool Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that by the end of the 2023-2024 school year, the city has 1,248 preschools, 1,955 private independent classes, and 266 nursery groups. The whole city has 265/1,248 preschools meeting national standards, 26 high-quality schools "Advanced schools, international integration", an increase of 2 schools compared to the previous school year.
In particular, to help parents choose a safe place to take care of their children, the City Department of Education and Training publicly announced a list of preschools on the department's information portal, mass media and notified residential groups, specifically listing child care groups, kindergarten classes, and private independent preschool classes that have been licensed, unlicensed or suspended in the area.
Ms. Le Thuy My Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of the City, said that many results in the field of preschool education this school year are very remarkable. According to Ms. Chau, recently, at the conference summarizing the school year of preschool education nationwide, the Minister of Education and Training mentioned the challenges of preschool education nationwide, which are also the challenges of Ho Chi Minh City. That is, there are 7 "best" things in preschool education including: Lack of facilities the most; lack of teachers the most; teachers quit the most; teachers have the lowest income; teachers are under the most pressure; teacher/class ratio is the lowest; investment policies for the lowest level of education.
Ms. Chau said that Ho Chi Minh City is a young city with a large population and a rapidly increasing number of children every year, but the city's preschool education still ensures enough places for children, especially children in industrial parks and export processing zones. In recent times, the city's preschool education system has become more and more spacious and modern, with good quality of education and training, and many model schools have been replicated for other units to learn from.
In particular, educational institutions are flexible and proactive, ensuring the completion of the proposed school year program, ensuring the implementation of the criteria for building happy schools, focusing on children. Notably, the digital transformation work in the past time has been effectively implemented, specifically in updating identification codes for children, managing nutrition for children, and publicizing the database of preschool education institutions, etc.
In preparation for the new school year 2024-2025, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of the City requested that districts, Thu Duc City, and preschools continue to pay attention to preschool education, especially the two keywords "safety" and "activity". How can we join hands to ensure that children are always safe, active, and develop dynamically and comprehensively in both physical and mental aspects?
At the same time, in the coming school year, it is necessary to continue promoting digital transformation, perfecting databases, and strengthening communication work. In addition, localities need to continue to effectively implement competitions for public and non-public teachers to foster teacher capacity, develop more advanced kindergartens, and integrate internationally.
Ms. Luong Thi Hong Diep said: “In the 2024-2025 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City preschool education sector will continue to implement the theme “Building a happy, child-centered preschool”. Prepare conditions for the pilot implementation of the new preschool education program; continue to monitor the roadmap for upgrading preschool teacher training standards to meet the 2019 Education Law and improve the capacity of the team of managers and preschool teachers, ensuring sufficient quantity and meeting training standards, etc. At the same time, continue to replicate and improve the effectiveness of the theme “Building a child-centered preschool in the 2021-2025 period...
