Today (September 17), Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union, visited, encouraged, and presented support from the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund to union members and workers of units under the Vietnam Road Administration in the two provinces of Yen Bai and Lao Cai affected by storm No. 3.

At the units, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Road Administration Trade Union, said that due to the impact of storm No. 3, thousands of points on the northern roads were flooded, eroded, and collapsed... many units and workers suffered losses on the northern roads, especially in the flood-affected areas on the Yen Bai - Lao Cai route.

However, units and workers are still resilient, both preventing and overcoming in the spirit of "4 on-site", where there is an incident, fix it there; at the same time, coordinate with functional forces to ensure traffic, quickly clear the road.

Similarly, hundreds of families of union members and workers whose houses and equipment were damaged still went out to the road to fix the problem and ensure traffic safety. For example, workers from units of Road Management Area I, Design and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 9, Road Joint Stock Company 242, Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company 244, Minh Duc Company Limited are overcoming the consequences of storms and floods on National Highway 70 at Km 42+950, ​​Km 90+00, Km 111+00 - Km 113+00, from Km 124 - Km 127...

Sharing with union members and workers of the units about the damage caused by storms and floods, Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Pham Hoai Phuong expressed his gratitude to the workers who put aside their housework and actively participated in repairing the road.

"After storms, floods and natural disasters, the force doing road maintenance and repair work is very hard and difficult, especially when the workload is large and time is not counted between day and night. This is truly a sacrifice and effort for the common work. Therefore, the profession and trade unions at all levels need to pay attention and provide timely support to maintenance staff and workers," Mr. Phuong emphasized.

Giving gifts to encourage workers at 5 locations and providing support to 5 individuals and families who suffered heavy losses, Mr. Phuong requested that professionals and trade unions continue to pay attention and record cases in need of support, and send them to the industry trade union to propose timely support.

At the same time, the delegation of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union came to support 25 cases of union members in the transport sector of the Lao Cai Province Transport - Construction Trade Union who suffered heavy losses.

Mr. Van Huu Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Lao Cai province, said that landslides, flash floods, and inundation occurred in the province, and many communes, wards, and districts were isolated, such as: Sa Pa town, Bao Yen district, Simacai district, Bat Xat district, Bac Ha district, and Van Ban district.

Chairman of Vietnam Transport Trade Union Pham Hoai Phuong visited and provided support to road workers affected by storms and floods.

Transport and construction workers and their families were severely affected. In terms of property damage alone, incomplete statistics show that 120 households were affected, of which one house was swept away by floodwaters and completely collapsed, 119 houses were flooded, eroded and had property and crops damaged. The estimated value of damage is 11.6 billion VND.

Sharing the difficulties and property losses of union members and workers in the Lao Cai Transport sector, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong expressed that the support from the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund, although not of great value, is the heart of workers in the whole sector, along with the support of the Central Government, helping workers to stabilize their lives soon.
