On the morning of December 2, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Quang Nam province for the 2023-2025 period.
Attending the announcement ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Mr. To Van Tam, Standing Member of the National Assembly Law Committee, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives of departments, ministries, branches and leaders of departments and branches in the province.
At the announcement ceremony, Mr. To Van Tam, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Law Committee, announced Resolution No. 1241 dated October 24, 2024 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Quang Nam province for the period 2023-2025.
Specifically, the arrangement of district-level administrative units, merging the entire natural area of 471.64 km2 and the population of 35,438 people of Nong Son district into Que Son district. After the merger, Que Son district has a natural area of 729.10 km2 and a population of 139,566 people. Regarding the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Que Son district: Merging the entire natural area of 28.46 km2 and the population of 3,190 people of Son Vien commune into Que Loc commune. After the merger, Que Loc commune has a natural area of 63.30 km2 and a population of 9,674 people.
Mr. To Van Tam said, the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Hiep Duc district is as follows: Establishing Que Tan commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 30.75 km2, population of 2,018 people of Hiep Thuan commune and the entire natural area of 60.53 km2, population of 2,402 people of Hiep Hoa commune.
After establishment, Que Tan commune has a natural area of 91.28 km2 and a population of 4,420 people. Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Thang Binh district as follows: Establish Binh Dinh commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 15.79 km2, population of 5,130 people of Binh Dinh Bac commune and the entire natural area of 17.42 km2, population of 5,090 people of Binh Dinh Nam commune. After establishment, Binh Dinh commune has a natural area of 33.21 km2 and a population of 10,220 people.
Merge the entire natural area of 15.55 km2 and population of 5,078 people of Binh Chanh commune into Binh Phu commune. After merging, Binh Phu commune has a natural area of 43.74 km2 and a population of 9,736 people.
Mr. To Van Tam added, the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Duy Xuyen district is as follows: Merging the entire natural area of 12.92 km2 and the population of 5,313 people of Duy Thu commune into Duy Tan commune. After the merger, Duy Tan commune has a natural area of 21.56 km2 and a population of 11,658 people.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Tien Phuoc district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 16.51 km2 and the population of 3,207 people of Tien Cam commune into Tien Son commune. After merging, Tien Son commune has a natural area of 40.11 km2 and a population of 7,382 people.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Phu Ninh district as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 13.84 km2 and the population of 5,607 people of Tam Vinh commune into Phu Thinh town. After merging, Phu Thinh town has a natural area of 20.32 km2 and a population of 10,928 people.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Tam Ky City as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 0.66 km2 and the population of 5,627 people of Phuoc Hoa ward into An Xuan ward. After merging, An Xuan ward has a natural area of 1.75 km2 and a population of 18,580 people.
Mr. To Van Tam said that since the Resolution took effect, Quang Nam province has 17 district-level administrative units, including 14 districts, 1 town and 2 cities; 233 commune-level administrative units, including 190 communes, 29 wards and 14 towns. Quang Nam province has reduced 1 district-level administrative unit; 8 commune-level administrative units.
