This afternoon (August 1), the Ministry of Education and Training held a press conference to announce the 2024 "For the Cause of Vietnamese Education" Journalism Award.

Recognizing works of vision and prediction

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son acknowledged that the press always accompanies and shares with the education sector. The National Press Award "For the Cause of Vietnam's Education" is a playground for reporters and journalists to gain more motivation and exchange. Each year, the Organizing Committee draws experience to make the Award more meaningful, bring great value and spread positive values ​​to society.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son emphasized that the Award aims to honor reporters, journalists and teachers, typical examples of advanced teaching and learning.

In addition to reflecting on “hot” issues, examples and models, the Deputy Minister hopes that the entries will address systemic issues with long-term impacts such as the policies of the Party, the State and the Ministry of Education and Training. The Deputy Minister also respectfully acknowledges visionary works with forecasts so that the education sector has more basis to perfect policies.

On behalf of the contest's jury, Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan Hoa, Deputy Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Journalism and Communication, said: 2024 is the 7th year the National Press Award "For the Cause of Vietnamese Education" is held. The award is chaired by the Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Vietnam Journalists Association. The Education and Times Newspaper was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training as the permanent unit to organize the implementation.

Through the Press Award “For the Cause of Vietnamese Education”, society can objectively recognize and evaluate the contributions of the education sector to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Through this, society can understand education correctly and fully; thereby sharing, supporting and accompanying teachers across the country in particular and the entire education sector in general.

Through journalistic works, we see the commitment of reporters so that examples of teachers and the good values ​​that education brings can spread widely in society.

Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan Hoa emphasized that in the process of innovation, in addition to opportunities and advantages, the education sector will also face many difficulties and challenges. Therefore, more than ever, we always hope and appreciate all cooperation and contributions to support the education sector; including the support and companionship from press and media agencies.

Award criteria

Regarding the rules, journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam, Editor-in-Chief of Education and Times Newspaper, Permanent Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said: Authors participating in the Award are Vietnamese citizens, including professional and non-professional journalists, with excellent press works published in mass media licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications, in accordance with the Award's criteria.

Authors participating in the Award must not violate the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists, the Press Law and other laws. Each author or group of authors may submit a maximum of 5 works to the Award. Members of the Award Judging Council, the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee must not submit works to the Award.

Journalistic works participating in the Award are works in Vietnamese published and broadcast on mass media from September 5, 2023 to September 5, 2024. If the work is published and broadcast in installments, at least 2/3 of the works must be within the above-mentioned period.

Works awaiting evaluation and conclusion from competent authorities; works that have won the National Press Award or other specialized National Press Awards will not be considered. Entries must be free of copyright disputes from the time of publication.

Regarding the criteria for awarding the Prize, the work must ensure authenticity, accuracy, objectivity, and have the right ideological and political orientation. The content of the work must raise issues related to Education that are of public interest; have the quality of discovery, summary or guidance, be convincing and have high social effectiveness; have an attractive and creative method of expression; and have a positive impact on serving the work of educational innovation. Works of a fictional nature will not be considered.

Outstanding educational activities have been and are being implemented in localities and educational institutions at all levels from preschool to university. Collectives and individuals have many outstanding solutions, results, achievements, and innovations in teaching and learning in the spirit of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TU in 2013 of the Central Executive Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
