On June 18, the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province submitted a document to the Provincial People's Committee to report the results of the inspection, verification and proposed solutions to the leak of English exam questions of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year.
Kon Tum Provincial Police also have verification results, investigation results up to June 12, 2023 determined that there are 12 students involved in the incident.
Accordingly, the verification results showed that the teacher assigned to create the exam questions was careless in preserving the draft questions. The exam committee was not strict in handling the draft exam questions. The student took a photo of the draft questions and sent them to his classmates in a private group.
Based on the analysis of the score distribution, the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province assessed that the scope of influence of the leaked draft of the English exam (general subject) is very small compared to the scale of the exam. In addition, after analyzing the statistical data, there were no abnormalities in the scores of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Department proposed to the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee to maintain the admission plan for candidates not related to the leaked exam drafts according to regulations.
For candidates involved in the incident, the Department of Education and Training proposed to cancel the results of this exam and organize a second round of exams for these candidates in English. It is expected to be implemented in early August 2023, using reserve questions.
Regarding admission for these candidates, the Department of Education and Training proposed using the first round exam results of Math and Literature; the second round exam results of English along with the candidates' 4-year training and study scores for admission.
As reported by the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper, earlier on the evening of June 2, after the English exam for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year ended, on social networks such as Zalo and Facebook, there was public opinion that the English exam questions were leaked along with a copy of the content similar to the English exam questions.
Immediately after that, the Department worked with the teachers who wrote the English exam questions. Accordingly, Ms. Pham Thi Huong, a teacher at Nguyen Hue Secondary School, Kon Tum City, admitted that a student who was taking extra classes at her home took a photo of the exam questions from the printer on her desk. At the same time, Ms. Huong admitted her mistake in letting the student take a photo of the exam draft and affirmed that she did not copy or take photos for the students.
Regarding this incident, the Standing Committee of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee also assigned the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee and the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant agencies to urgently investigate, verify information and strictly handle violations (if any) of related organizations and individuals according to the provisions of law.
