
A sixth grader in Quang Nam was beaten with a ruler by his homeroom teacher, leaving both legs bruised after a collision with a classmate during physical education class. The school has temporarily suspended the teacher for five days.
On the evening of November 13, the Principal of Le Quy Don Secondary School (Duy Tan Commune, Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province) said that the school is waiting for the results of the investigation from the police to have a disciplinary action against the female teacher who beat the student.
The principal also said that the school has temporarily suspended the teacher for 5 days to clarify the incident. Teachers beating students like that is unacceptable for any reason, the principal shared.
The incident of a teacher beating a 6th grade male student occurred after physical education class on November 12. On the afternoon of November 13, the student's family posted an article on social media, along with pictures of the student's bruised legs.
According to the boy's family, at first he refused to talk because he was afraid of having his conduct grade lowered. After his family persuaded him, the boy told the story of being beaten by his teacher after physical education class.
The female teacher also admitted to using a small ruler to hit the soft tissue of the student’s leg. The school representative and the teacher visited the student’s home and coordinated with the family to take the male student to the doctor.
The school also asked the family to remove the post on social media to avoid any unpleasant incidents with all parties.
