The 2-level Investigation Police Agency under the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has prosecuted 2,076 cases, with 4,023 defendants.
In the third quarter of 2024 alone, Ho Chi Minh City Police cracked down on 817 cases, with 2,045 subjects violating drug laws (an increase of 232 cases and 720 subjects compared to the same period).
Notably, 4 drug trafficking and transportation rings with large quantities were broken up, 34 subjects were arrested, 79.5 kg of drugs, 48 heroin cakes, 2 guns and many other evidences were seized.

Specifically, on July 20, Cu Chi District Police, together with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (PC04), Ho Chi Minh City Police, in coordination with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04), Ministry of Public Security, etc., dismantled and arrested the entire drug trafficking ring from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City. The authorities prosecuted 6 suspects, seized 15.5 kg of drugs and 1 gun.

On September 7, Tan Phu District Police, together with PC04 Department, C04 Department... arrested a group of people transporting, storing, and illegally trading drugs; confiscating more than 19kg of drugs and 40 packages of happy water drugs.

Then, on September 17, District 8 Police, together with PC04 Department, C04 Department... dismantled a drug trafficking ring from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City and many other localities for consumption; seized 20kg of Methamphetamine, 10kg of Ketamine, 42 heroin bars; arrested 14 subjects.
With the above achievements, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, sent a letter of commendation to Ho Chi Minh City Police for their achievements in fighting and destroying 4 drug trafficking and transportation rings of large quantities.

Speaking to SGGP Newspaper reporters, the leader of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that recently, the unit has directed the Drug Crime Investigation Police force to resolutely and synchronously implement professional measures, focusing on developing and implementing many solutions and policies.
