On May 12, An Giang Provincial Police coordinated with volunteer group Mr. Vo Thanh Tung - Principal of Le Quy Don Primary School, Long Xuyen City and Hoa Hao Buddhist College to send thousands of bottles of fresh water to people in drought and salinity affected areas of Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang.

The delegation handed over 1,900 21-liter water bottles, 500 mineral water cartons and more than 950 30-liter water cans to nearly 1,000 people in Binh Tan commune, Go Cong Tay district.

At the same time, 550 more bottles of mineral water were given to students of Huynh Xuan Viet Secondary School, Go Cong Tay District and 70 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, were given to poor households in the commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Quoc Trung - Deputy Head of the Party and Political Affairs Department of An Giang Provincial Police - said that the program was implemented according to the telegram No. 01 of the Ministry of Public Security. Strengthening the implementation of measures to prevent and combat heat waves, drought, water shortages, saltwater intrusion and helping people in the face of prolonged heat waves and saltwater intrusion deep inland in the Mekong Delta provinces.

Ms. Do Thi Kim Thu (residing in Binh Tan commune, Go Cong Tay district) said that not only her family, but also many people in the commune are lacking fresh water and daily water.

"Today, I am very happy and pleased to receive water and gifts from the An Giang Provincial Police and the volunteer group. I sincerely thank you for your affection in the program," she said.
