According to statistics released on January 26, on the first day of "Chunyun", China recorded more than 189 million trips, an increase of nearly 20% compared to the same period last year.

According to a task force composed of representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Security, and the China State Railway Corporation, the number of air passengers increased the most, reaching 111.8%. As of January 26, more than 26 million domestic air tickets had been booked during the “Chunyun” period. At the same time, the number of passengers traveling by road, water, and rail also increased by 16% to 78%.

Authorities estimate that around 9 billion trips will be made during the period, with an average of 12 million passengers per day and around 480 million during the peak period. This year’s Lunar New Year holiday in China will last for eight days, from February 10 to 17, longer than usual.

This is a figure that shows a significant increase in the volume of population movement during this year's "Chunyun" period. This also shows the recovery of the aviation industry and other means of transportation after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
