Child wears new clothes and then goes missing, parents search for him for 34 years

The good news made the couple burst into happiness. In an instant, the 34-year journey of searching for their son with so much sadness and tears was compensated. Mr. Wang and his wife Shi Guiju hugged each other and cried.

On the morning of August 18, relatives and neighbors of Mr. Wang and his wife came to the cotton mill apartment complex to set up a stage and raise banners to prepare to welcome their son home. At around 1 p.m., a police car carrying Wang Yuanyuan (38 years old) and his wife and son appeared. Wang Chengyou and his wife's eyes were filled with tears. As they got closer, Wang Yuanyuan's son's figure became clearer.

Unable to hold back their emotions, the grandparents hugged their child and cried: "My child, you're finally home."

Music and firecrackers were playing as Wang Yuanyuan, his wife, children and parents entered the house to take their first family photo after many years apart. After 34 years, they finally had their first complete family photo.

In the small living room, everyone was attracted by the painting of the word "Phuc" hanging on the wall. Mrs. Shi looked at the painting and said: "I embroidered this for my son. Now that the family is reunited, it is the luckiest thing in my life."

34 years never give up

Many years ago, Mr. Wang Chengyou and his wife Shi Guiju lived and worked in Shihua Town. They had two children, a boy and a girl. Life was peaceful and happy until a heartbreaking incident happened.

That day was September 9, 1990, his 4-year-old son went out with friends in the neighborhood and did not return until evening. His grandparents asked everywhere but could not find any trace of him. They then realized the seriousness of the matter.

"I called all my relatives and friends nearby to look for my child. For 3 days and 3 nights, my family searched for my child but there was no news.

That day, I had just dressed my child in new clothes for his performance at school the next day. I never expected that it would be 34 years before I would see my child again," said Mr. Wang.

Since then, he quit his job in town and went out to do all kinds of jobs to look for his son. He could do sales, business, driving, etc., as long as he could make friends to have more opportunities to find his son.

During that journey, he met many scammers but he still did not give up.

Talking about his 34-year experience, Mr. Wang said: "Every time I received a clue, I was happy and then disappointed. But I promised myself that as long as I was healthy, I would continue to look for my child.

For my son, I will never give up."

Now his son has returned and all the years of hard work have paid off.

Wu Jiang, technical captain of the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Gucheng County Public Security Bureau, was one of the policemen who helped Wang Chengyou and his wife find their son.

Mr. Wu met Mr. Wang and his wife not long after he started working in 1996. In the hope of finding their child, Mr. Wang and his wife submitted a blood sample and entered it into a DNA system to find relatives.

Many times, Mr. Wu was moved to see Mr. Chengyou and his wife come to congratulate the families who found their loved ones. He understood how much they wanted to see their lost son again. He told himself that he would try his best to find Mr. Wang and his wife's son.

The turning point came in July 2024 when police discovered that Mr. Wang's blood sample matched that of a man named Xin Weizong living in Quanzhou (Fujian).

The police immediately came to verify and search for Xin. After hearing the story, Mr. Xin also agreed to do a DNA test. The results showed that Xin Weizong was Wang Yuanyuan, the missing son of Mr. Wang Chengyou.

Finally, after much effort, Mr. Wang's family was reunited. He not only found his son, but also had a daughter-in-law and grandchildren. It was a happiness that is hard to put into words.
