Cat Phuong plays the role of the old woman, mother-in-law of Cong Dong (the main character in the play). She and Hoai Linh contributed to stirring up the humorous cai luong play on the first day of the year.
Cat Phuong sang Cai Luong and made the audience laugh.
Four Spring Poems (authors: Bach Mai - Bach Long) was restored by artist Huu Quoc and performed for the audience at Hong Lien theater (District 6).
The play is a cheerful story about a gentle and studious Cong Dong, but his family is poor, so his rich wife decided to sell her hair so he could have money to go to the capital to take the imperial examination.
On the day he left, Cong Dong's wife was pregnant with their first child. He promised to do well in the exams to bring fame and wealth to his wife and children.
Then suddenly a manslaughter happened and the Council was imprisoned. The story continues 20 years later…
Cat Phuong plays the role of Dong Truc's mother (played by Phuong Cam Ngoc), Cong Dong's third wife. Dong Truc did not force Cong Dong, but the old woman was the one who used tricks to make the young man she was interested in accept her daughter.

Cai luong is not Cat Phuong's forte, so she chose to sing Cai luong in a humorous way.
The audience was nervous and sweating because Cat Phuong was singing and swerving and turning too sharply.
Not only did she choose a unique way of singing cải lương, but the trick the "old lady" Cát Phượng used to force Công Đồng to marry her daughter made the audience laugh so hard they shook their seats.
On her personal page, Cat Phuong expressed: "Very happy to join the Huynh Long traditional opera family. Thank you sister Binh Tinh for giving Cat Ty the opportunity."
The first time appearing in Huynh Long and being so well received by the audience, it promises that Cat Phuong will continue to collaborate for a long time.
Hoai Linh plays the role of a parent looking for a husband for his son.
In the play, besides Cat Phuong, the person who brought laughter to the audience was Hoai Linh.
Hoai Linh plays the father of Thu Cuc, Cong Dong's fourth wife.
The father and daughter lived deep in the mountains. Seeing that his daughter was a bit… naughty and also afraid that he would not be able to find a decent husband for her, he met the Council and… took her away!

Hoai Linh collaborated with Binh Tinh (as Thu Cuc) and Thai Vinh (as Cong Dong) to have humorous and charming performances that made the audience excited and laugh heartily on the first day of the year.
It can be said that it is just a light entertainment play but Huynh Long troupe did not do it carelessly.
Costumes, scenery, and the director's handling of the scenes contribute to increasing the color and creating the play's appeal.
A lion dance team was also invited in the first and last scenes. The disciples performed beautiful martial arts in the scene where Dong Truc performed Shan Dong martial arts.

After the performance on the 8th, on the evening of the 9th, Huynh Long troupe continued to meet the audience in the traditional opera play Queen of Two Homelands (script: late artist Bach Mai).
