Good opportunity for Vietnamese students wishing to study in Japan

On November 26, in Hanoi, a large-scale Japanese Education Conference was held with the participation of nearly 70 Japanese universities, colleges and educational institutions.

The Japanese Education Seminar in Hanoi is organized with the aim of introducing the Japanese education system and information about Japanese universities and colleges to students, parents and those interested in the Japanese education system ; providing students and parents with the latest and authentic information about the Japanese education system, study programs, and scholarship funds for Vietnamese students.

The event was organized by the Vietnam Alumni Club in Japan (VAJA) under the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in coordination with the Japan Student Support Service Center (JASSO) under the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Tourism (MEXT).

Attending the workshop, on the Vietnamese side were leaders of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, leaders of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, leaders of departments and branches of Hanoi city. On the Japanese side, there were representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and representatives of Japanese educational institutions, along with about 1,500 delegates, including representatives of 86 universities and colleges in Vietnam, teachers, students, parents of students from universities in the Hanoi area, representatives of domestic and Japanese press agencies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Mr. Yoshioka Tomoya, President of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), expressed his joy that after 4 years of postponement due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2023 Japan Study Abroad Conference in Vietnam has officially been held again. The conference also marked the 20th anniversary of JASSO organizing the Japan Study Abroad Conference and was also part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.

Mr. Yoshioka Tomoya hopes that the event will be an opportunity for parents, students and pupils to experience and learn for themselves the necessary information about the schools with the best training quality, helping them get closer to their dream of studying abroad in Japan.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, former National Assembly delegate, Honorary President of the Club of Vietnamese Alumni in Japan, believed that study abroad and exchange programs play an important role in promoting cooperation in the field of education, while helping Vietnam and Japan develop high-quality human resources.

With the Japanese government adjusting and implementing policies to attract and support foreign students, the Honorary President of the Club affirmed that Japan is an attractive and high-quality destination for students and university students who want to study abroad.

Through cooperation with the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), universities and educational institutions in Japan and Vietnam, the President of the Vietnam Alumni Club in Japan hopes that the Study Abroad Seminar in Japan will increasingly attract more attention not only from young people and parents but also from related organizations and educational institutions in both countries.

Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai hopes that the Japanese Education Conference will be a good opportunity for young people to collect accurate and useful information and make the right choice for their own learning path.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, Vietnamese students, parents and those interested in the Japanese education system heard about the MEXT Scholarship; experiences of studying, working and living in Japan; benefits and challenges of a MEXT scholar in Japan; and things to prepare before going to study in Japan.

Excited to listen to advice from universities in Japan, "I find this seminar very meaningful for students who want to study abroad in Japan. Coming to the seminar, students like me will learn more and find opportunities to get scholarships to study abroad. I think that Japan will be an ideal country for students to study and develop themselves", shared Le Thi Thuy, a student at the National University.

Mr. Do Manh Thu, a parent from Hanoi, shared that he really wants his child to study in Japan because the education sector and people are close to Vietnam. Mr. Thu hopes that through the seminar, he will understand more about Japanese universities and choose the right school for his child.
