Parents divorced, depend on grandmother
Liang Liubo was born in a small village in the mountains of southeastern Guizhou, China. Surrounded by mountains and green grass, the villagers lived a simple life, getting up early in the morning to go to work and coming home at night to rest. However, Liang Liubo's childhood was not so peaceful. Liang Liubo's parents divorced when she was young and both had their own families, leaving her to live with her grandmother.
Since then, Liang Liubo and his grandmother relied on each other, life was difficult with every meal and every piece of clothing, information from page 163 .
Perhaps poverty was the invisible hand that strangled Liang Liubo’s fate. As soon as she finished primary school, she had to leave school, leave her hometown and go to work in Guangdong. Despite her meager salary and monotonous, boring life, she never gave up hope.

She always told herself that as long as she was willing to endure hardship, one day life would be better and her grandmother could live a comfortable old age.
Day after day, Liang Liubo worked hard and saved a little money. She began to think about her future, dreaming of one day wearing a wedding dress and living a happy life of her own.
In 2010, Liang Liubo, 20 years old, married Chen, a fellow villager, with the help of her grandmother and a matchmaker.
Grandma held her grandchild's wedding with boundless happiness. Liang Liubo was also full of hope for the future and a happy life.
However, reality was like a basin of cold water that cruelly extinguished her hope.
After getting married, Liang Liubo's life became even more difficult. Every time Chen came home drunk, he would use violence, punching and kicking Liang Liubo. The beatings became more frequent.
Liang Liubo was depressed. She did not understand why all her years of hard work had ended in such a tragic outcome. She wanted to escape from this unhappy marriage. But Liang Liubo was afraid that her grandmother would be sad and worried about her. She would not be able to bear the gossip of the villagers.
Finally, unable to bear the beatings, she decided to tell her grandmother about her decision to divorce. Her grandmother understood the hardships her granddaughter had endured. She felt guilty towards Liang Liubo. However, marriage was not just a matter of two people. At that time, the Chen family had paid a large sum of money for this marriage. That money was used to cover the living expenses of Liang Liubo's family and was also gone.
Once divorced, the Chen family will demand the return of all the dowry money. This will definitely be a huge financial burden.
After careful consideration, the grandmother came up with a solution. She secretly helped Liang Liubo pack his bags, provided enough travel expenses, and persuaded him to leave home to end this painful marriage.
The Escape from Sin
But no one expected that this escape would push Liang Liubo down the path of crime. After escaping to Zhejiang, Liang Liubo was under heavy pressure. Being a rural person with little education, she could not find a stable job and could only earn money by doing odd jobs.
During her wandering life, Liang Liubo met many kinds of people, and she completely lost her hope and desire for marriage.
Within 5 years, Liang Liubo married 8 people.
Until one day, she suddenly had an idea: "If marriage cannot bring happiness to me, why not take advantage of it to make a profit?".
So Liang Liubo called her, hoping she could help him. The two discussed it and finally decided to use arranged dates to cheat on marriage in order to get the dowry money.
With the help of his grandmother, Liang Liubo carefully created a fake profile. Sure enough, on a date, Liang Liubo won Mr. Huang's heart through his pitiful life experience.
The two quickly got married. Mr. Huang’s family gave him a gift worth 30,000 yuan (over 100 million VND). After receiving the gift, Liang Liubo ran away.
Although feeling a little guilty, Liang Liubo felt proud that she had earned 30,000 yuan so quickly. She realized that marriage fraud was a simple and effective way to make money without much risk.
From then on, Liang Liubo gradually fell into the trap and began his journey of marriage fraud.
In the next 3 years, she went to Guangxi, Yunnan, Sichuan, other provinces and used the same method to do 6 more fraudulent marriages.
Through repeated attempts, her methods became more sophisticated. The main reason Liang Liubo was able to easily commit marriage fraud was because she took advantage of loopholes in the marriage registration system between provinces and cities that were not yet connected.
First, Liang Liubo screens potential marriage candidates on online matchmaking platforms or dating groups. Then, she targets a man from a well-off family, single, and of marriageable age. Once she gains the other person’s trust, her grandmother contacts their parents to confirm her identity and background.
She also told them that her granddaughter had a hard life but was very pure and kind, and wanted to find a man to rely on.
With the information from the grandmother, the other party completely let down their guard and believed that Liang Liubo was a poor, kind girl.
When the two parties get engaged, Liang Liubo will use his real identity information to register the marriage.
She understood that if she married under a false identity, the whole scam would be discovered. On the contrary, if she left her real name, home address... and even did the procedures with a real household registration book, she could reduce the other party's suspicions, making them believe that this marriage was real.
As a matter of habit, Liang Liubo had been cheating and marrying many men in different cities. Because the marriage registration system in many places had not yet established an information sharing mechanism, her multiple marriages went undetected.
After swindling the money, Liang Liubo immediately abandoned the other party and left. When the family wanted to investigate, there was no trace left.
Liang Liubo also carefully set a moderate bride price to avoid arousing suspicion. She understood that asking for too much money would make it difficult for the other party to accept.
According to statistics, Liang Liubo defrauded nearly 400,000 Yuan (nearly 1.5 billion VND) from different subjects.
At the end of 2014, many victims reported crimes. Police in Guizhou, Guangxi, Sichuan and other places quickly set up special teams to investigate.
In March 2015, Liang Liubo was arrested while planning to visit her hometown. Police found seven of her marriage certificates. Liang Liubo’s grandmother was also arrested as an accomplice.
Thus, within 5 years, Liang Liubo married 8 people and defrauded a large amount of money. The girl lived in a poor rural area, due to circumstances and money, she eventually embarked on a path of crime. In the end, she had to serve her sentence. Sadly, the grandmother did not advise her but instead assisted her grandchild in going to jail, only to receive a humiliating end.
