Hanoi FC's opponent Urawa is the defending champion of the tournament, however with 7 points after 5 matches, Urawa's chances of advancing are quite slim. The Japanese team must beat Hanoi FC and then wait for favorable results from the remaining matches to wait for a ticket to advance (in the group of best second-place teams). In the first leg, Urawa defeated the Vietnamese representative with a score of 6-0.

"Hanoi FC played 5 matches, against strong teams in Asia. We competed with the Chinese champions (Wuhan Three Towns), the current AFC Champions League champions (Urawa) and the current runners-up of Korea (Pohang Steelers).
Thanks to these competitions, we have learned a great lesson. That is, quality foreign players can carry the whole team, like a Thai club that spent a lot of money to buy foreign players and had good results, but also need to resonate with good domestic players. Vietnamese clubs need to train young players so that they can compete internationally to help the home team compete well in the continental playground."
Striker Joel Tagueu of Hanoi FC affirmed: "We have prepared very well for the match against Urawa. The whole team won Wuhan in the previous round, and will do everything to keep the 3 points in tomorrow night's match against Urawa.
