Because they could not find someone to share their lives with, Ms. Hue and her husband decided to divorce after 7 years together. She sent her two children to relatives in Dak Nong to take care of. She also moved to the teachers' dormitory of Dak Ro Ong Kindergarten to live. Ms. Hue still remembers clearly that fateful day more than 5 years ago. On October 3, 2018, her ex-husband appeared in front of the dormitory door. While preparing a lesson plan, she heard her ex-husband asking to come out to talk. When the door opened, the man rushed to hug Ms. Hue and detonated a homemade bomb. After the explosion, she lost her right hand, her right eye was permanently blind, and her face was burned and deformed. Her ex-husband also lost a hand and was covered with wounds all over his body. After several months of treatment, Ms. Hue was discharged from the hospital with extreme pain both physically and mentally. Her deformed face made her feel inferior and self-conscious. For many months, she locked herself in the house and did not communicate with anyone. There were times when she felt weak and wanted to give up everything. However, when she thought about her two children, she got up and tried to live well. Her small joy every day was joining a group for people with disabilities. After a while, she gradually opened her heart and shared with people in unfortunate situations like hers. Through sharing, she felt that there were many lives that were much more difficult and extreme than hers, but they still rose up and lived well. After more than a year, Ms. Hue gradually regained her confidence and optimism about life. Her ex-husband was brought to trial, and she gradually returned to normal life. After dozens of surgeries with the help of many benefactors, the scars from the explosion gradually faded. With encouragement and sharing from relatives and colleagues, Ms. Hue regained her spirit to take care of her two children and continue working.With the support of colleagues and philanthropists, Nong Thi Hue gradually returned to normal life.
Paying back life After a period of sharing and contributing from benefactors, when her body recovered, Ms. Hue immediately asked to stop receiving support. Instead, she shared that support with the disadvantaged Xơ Đăng children where she worked. Ms. Hue said that in Tu Mơ Rông, there are many families in very difficult circumstances. Parents work hard in the fields, so the children do not have enough food and clothing. There are students who only wear one set of clothes provided by the school all year round, and some often skip breakfast when going to school. Unable to bear it, Ms. Hue posted touching stories on her personal Facebook page calling for benefactors to support clothes and books for students. On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival or holidays, she tries to organize a dessert party for her students so that they can feel the warm and loving atmosphere. Over the years, she has organized dozens of projects to support children and students in difficult circumstances. Through relatives and friends, Ms. Hue's meaningful work spread to many places and became known to many people. Before class or on weekends, she brought some charity items to give to people and students in difficult areas. "When I was in the most desperate and desperate situation, everyone joined hands to help. Now that life is better, I want to share with my students and those who have unfortunate lives. Seeing their smiles, I feel much lighter," she confided.
