Leading expert predicts Ms. Harris will win the US presidency

(Dan Tri) - A history expert who has accurately predicted the results of most US elections since 1984 believes that Vice President Kamala Harris is likely to be elected president later this year.

In an interview with the New York Times this week, Professor Allan Lichtman, who has correctly predicted the results of every US election since 1984 except Al Gore's defeat, believes Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has the upper hand over Republican candidate Donald Trump. "Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States, at least that's my prediction for the outcome of this race. But the final outcome is still up to you. So go out and vote," Mr. Lichtman said. Of the 13 factors, he found eight that favored Ms. Harris, including no strong contenders emerging, positive short- and long-term economic indicators, significant legislative accomplishments by President Joe Biden’s administration and the absence of social unrest or scandals in the White House. She also benefited from not having to fight a Democratic nomination battle, as other candidates quickly endorsed her. Mr. Lichtman had previously been a vocal opponent of Biden’s withdrawal from the Democratic Party’s nomination list after his debate with former President Trump in June. Mr. Lichtman correctly predicted Mr. Trump’s victory in the 2016 election over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton at a time when most polls pointed to the opposite. He also correctly predicted that Trump would be impeached during his presidency, and Trump has been impeached twice. In this year's White House race, Trump was initially considered to have an advantage over Biden. However, when Ms. Harris joined the race, Mr. Trump faced more challenges. Public opinion polls showed Ms. Harris leading Mr. Trump in most battleground states. According to analysts, Mr. Trump is changing tactics to speed up the campaign in the final stages. He held more events in battleground states. His team of advisors also advised him to limit personal attacks and instead focus more on policy messages.
