Through social networks and online marketing channels, farmers not only sell products but also directly sell stories of the agricultural products they produce.
Great benefits but limited application of digital technology
The “National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, Vision to 2030” identifies agriculture as one of the eight priority sectors. To date, the digital transformation process in agriculture has achieved certain successes, but many challenges still exist.
Our country's average annual agricultural growth is currently about 3.5%, also higher than the average of Asia and Southeast Asia. However, the digitalization rate in agriculture, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications, is only 2.1%, low compared to the world.

Mr. Do Anh Dung, Head of Information and Training Department (Thai Nguyen Provincial Agricultural Extension Center) said that, besides the advantages, our country's agriculture is also often heavily affected by natural disasters and climate change. Therefore, applying Data Analytics technology to analyze and manage climate zones will help warn farmers of risks so they can respond promptly.
Meanwhile, Blockchain technology and geographic information systems (GIS) can be used to create a traceability system. Through this, farmers can provide information about the origin and production process of agricultural products. Consumers scan the QR code or search the system to see detailed information about the product, ensuring that they know the quality and origin.
“Digital transformation provides channels for communication and feedback between farmers and consumers. Online platforms allow consumers to send feedback, ask questions and receive responses from farmers. This helps create a direct relationship with consumers without going through traders,” said Mr. Do Anh Dung.
In order to increase access to digital technology and apply it to production practices associated with product promotion and introduction, recently, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Agricultural Extension Center organized a training course on "Application of digital transformation in agricultural production" for 40 delegates who are agricultural extension officers, technical officers, members of cooperatives, farmers, etc. in the province. "Through the training course, we have clearly recognized the importance of applying digital technology in product promotion and introduction," said Ms. Tong Thi Kim Thoa, Director of Kim Thoa Tea Cooperative (Thai Nguyen City), who participated in the training course.
Don't rely on technology
According to Dr. Dao Thi Huong (University of Economics and Business Administration - Thai Nguyen University), digital transformation in agriculture is an inevitable trend in the context of increasingly popular technology.
Not only overcoming limitations in product quality, digital transformation also connects markets, builds agricultural product brands..., thereby forming modern agriculture, bringing high value and income.

Dr. Huong believes that in order for digital transformation to be substantial and effective, farmers need to strengthen cooperation with digital economic agencies and units to deploy e-commerce through trading platforms such as Tiktok shop, Voso, Sendo...
"Digital transformation will bring many useful tools for farmers to communicate, market..., thereby enhancing product brands. However, farmers should not rely on artificial intelligence AI in the production of communication products and product marketing. Each farmer should breathe life into the product with unique, sincere stories that only the agricultural producer can understand. Consumers will not only buy products for their useful features, nutritional value... but will also buy the story in each product", Dr. Huong shared.
According to Dr. Huong, farmers also need to focus on developing production chains associated with digital technology. In addition to applying modern technology, digital transformation in agriculture also aims to create natural links between components of the agricultural ecosystem along the value chain; promote the consumption of agricultural products through the application of social networking tools, contributing to the development of agricultural production.
