What is special about the national art program celebrating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory?

Within the framework of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned to organize an art program expected to be titled "Dien Bien Phu - Golden Milestone of History" or "Dien Bien Phu - Peaceful Rendezvous". The program is expected to be held on the evening of May 6 at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province.

This will be a particularly attractive and humane program, combining elaborately staged artistic performances with reminiscences of the past; interwoven with music are analyses and assessments of the Dien Bien Phu victory by witnesses and Vietnamese and international journalists.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the program will stage many art performances in diverse forms of expression such as: music, singing, dancing, animation, poetry reading, honoring all forces participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign such as infantry soldiers, artillery soldiers, hundreds of thousands of compatriots participating in the frontline labor teams, youth volunteers, artists...

The art program shows the skillful military art, the feelings of the soldiers in "Fifty-six days and nights, digging mountains, sleeping in tunnels, pouring rain, rice balls...", the determination and intelligence in the battle for peace, independence and resonance around the world. The victory resounded throughout the five continents, shook the earth, received the support of international friends, and ignited the will to fight for independence and freedom in the countries of Indochina.

The program uses modern technology to recreate the panoramic picture of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, bringing a sacred atmosphere right at the fierce battlefield of the past, with the stage located at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province. The stage is staged with a modern sound and lighting system, creating a solemn and tragic atmosphere to tell the touching and extremely proud story of the legendary land of Dien Bien Phu.

"In addition to today's famous artists, the participating artists also include a generation of artists who performed on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield 70 years ago, bringing back memories, emotions and pride," said Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong.

People's Artist Tran Ly Ly - Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts said that the Department of Performing Arts has developed a plan to coordinate with the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to implement the program. The script of the art program has been sent to the People's Committee of Dien Bien province for comments, and at the same time assigned to the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theater to implement it.

"The Vietnam National Opera and Ballet is responsible for organizing rehearsals and performing art programs to ensure progress, quality, safety, and savings," said People's Artist Tran Ly Ly.

The program "Dien Bien Memories" brings the audience back to the story of the nation.

Also to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, the Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater will perform an art program titled "Dien Bien Memories". The program will take place at 8:00 p.m. on May 4, 2024 at the Hanoi Opera House.

The program will bring the audience back to the story of the nation 7 decades ago through heroic but extremely romantic songs such as: "Bo Doi Ve Lang", "Em Be Muong La", "Tinh Ca Tay Bac"... with the desire to relive the historical period of the nation with veterans, parents and rekindle national pride in today's young generation.

The program was written and directed by People's Artist Tran Binh, along with the production crew. The program had the participation of artists: People's Artist Quoc Hung, Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan, Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan, singers Hoang Viet Danh, Pham Thu Ha, Thanh Thao, Trung Sy, Hue Thuong, Thoi Gian group, Phuong Nam group...
