25th World Children's Day 2024
The 25th World Children's Day - 2024, on the occasion of International Children's Day June 1 and the Month of Action for Children with the theme "Practical actions, prioritizing resources for children" was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the People's Committee of Me Linh district.
The festival is organized with many rich contents, experiential programs, and exciting competitions for children. The photo exhibition "Uncle Ho with Children" introduces 70 photos of Uncle Ho with children in beautiful and meaningful moments. These are simple and familiar images, his affection, care, and education are forever engraved, becoming invaluable assets for the young generations of Vietnam. And even more meaningful, when the exhibition is held in Me Linh district, the first place in the country to build a statue of Uncle Ho in 1969 when he passed away, it was named Hill 79 Spring.

At the exhibition area, the highly-winning entries of children participating in the 2024 Stamp Collection and Research Contest with the theme "70 years of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory through postage stamps" and the Exhibition "Paintings by teenagers and children about the Dien Bien Phu victory and images of Dien Bien Phu today" will also be introduced. This is a practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
Cultural and artistic performances with the participation of artists and comedians that children admire such as People's Artist Xuan Bac, People's Artist Tu Long, circus artists, puppets, performing arts, children's fashion... Through that, children can interact and discover many interesting things about the world of childhood.
During the festival, the Organizing Committee offers children a series of experiential activities, creative entertainment, learning while playing - playing while learning, practicing life skills such as: Fire safety, traffic safety, guiding children to love reading, love books, learn and experience their favorite sports, participate in circus performances with simple circus acts, child models; experience traditional professions... Along with that is a children's play area with outdoor exercise equipment, recycled toys, creative, environmental protection, folk games...
Children's Book Fair responds to Action Month for Children
The 5th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair 2024 will take place from May 31 to June 9 at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Nguyen Van Binh, District 1.
The Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair is organized annually by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications in coordination with book and publishing units... at the beginning of each summer. This year, the Book Fair is one of the city's special reading cultural activities to respond to the Month of Action for Children and the opening of summer 2024.

This year's Children's Book Fair has the theme of Summer Fun with Good Books with the participation of 24 units which are publishers and book distributors in the City, with more than 20,000 titles of books with diverse genres and content for children including: paper books, e-books, and audiobooks.
The book fair will display and exhibit good books for children published in the summer of 2024, and display and introduce the Vietnamese History series in pictures (in Vietnamese and English) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the book series' publication and release.
The book fair has also expanded its scale of activities with nearly 60 programs, including: exchanges, book launches, interactive activities, experiences, developing thinking and creativity for children and teenagers such as: exchanging books for plants, exchanging batteries for books, drawing, painting, cultural and artistic performances, ethnic music exchanges, martial arts performances, screenings of English films adapted from literary, cultural and historical works, etc.
The focus of the series of welcoming events is the Forum on the topic of Making Friends with Books with the participation of speakers who are Ambassadors of Reading Culture of Ho Chi Minh City, writers, journalists, creators, experts in education, psychology and young authors, inspirational figures... will bring multi-dimensional perspectives and useful sharing, helping children build skills, effectively use supporting devices in learning and entertainment for comprehensive development in the current digital transformation stage.
A new feature at this year's Book Fair is that for the first time, AI Robots will be used to welcome and support readers, creating opportunities for children to experience and interact with artificial intelligence applications, arousing a passion for science and technology in young people.
In particular, at the opening ceremony of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Festival in 2024, the organizing committee will announce the Professional Council and the Regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Awards.
Many new plays are introduced to Vietnamese audiences.
Right from the beginning of Summer, the children's stage has exploded with a series of new plays staged by theaters for audiences. In particular, the Vietnam Drama Theater has launched many new plays such as "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Return of the Dragon", "The Avengers" to serve young audiences.
Among them, the play “The Emperor’s New Clothes” adapted from the Andersen story of the same name and directed by Japanese director Hiroyuki Muneshige is a key work this summer. The work revolves around the emperor who only focuses on dressing up, not caring about the miserable lives of the people when there is drought in some places and floods in others.

To create appeal for a familiar work, the Vietnam Drama Theater invited Japanese director Hiroyuki Muneshige to direct it. He breathed new life into the way this story was told. Instead of performing in the traditional way that has existed for many years, in this play, director Hiroyuki Muneshige created a new mark by presenting the work in many highly entertaining languages, such as drama, pantomime, dance, music, lighting... mainly using the body language of the artists.
In addition, the play “The Return of the Dragon” directed by the duo People’s Artist Xuan Bac and Tu Long is a special stage version of the famous comic and movie “Dragon Ball”, but presented from a new perspective, no less humorous and witty by the artists.
Also on this occasion, the Vietnam Youth Theatre launched the “Summer of Love” series, including four plays: “Elsa’s Party”, “The Uncrowned King”, “Rescue Grandma”, “Zorba the Detective Cat”. The two plays “Rescue Grandma” and “Zorba the Detective Cat” marked the collaboration between the Youth Theatre and international theaters.
People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, said that to welcome International Children's Day June 1 and the summer of 2024, the unit has staged and launched the circus play "Dream of a Fairy Age" with the participation of actors and circus artists of the Vietnam Circus Federation. The play consists of 3 scenes: "Childhood Memories", "Tough Battle" and "Future Light". Through the language and characteristics of circus art, the play "Dream of a Fairy Age" has led children into a dream world, meeting and interacting with their favorite superhero characters, while praising courage, promoting solidarity, creating strength to overcome difficulties, fight evil, protect justice, protect people...
Along with that, art units also launched attractive stage works with many forms and diverse experiences for children, such as "Grandma's Tale" (Hanoi Drama Theater), "Color of Dreams" (Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater), "Hundred-Joint Bamboo" and "Magical Sticky Rice" (Hanoi Cheo Theater)...
