After attending and giving a speech at the first Vietnam Fruit Festival held at the Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center, Phong Dai District, Beijing, on the morning of September 29, 2024, in China, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wen Tao co-chaired the 13th Meeting of the Vietnam - China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
Also attending the meeting, on the Vietnamese side were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam; Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai; representatives of the Government Office, representatives of the Ministry of Transport and leaders of the Departments and functional departments of the Ministry of Industry and Trade: Office of the Inter-sectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration, Department of Asia - Africa Market, Department of Organization and Personnel, Department of Multilateral Trade Policy, Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Department of Trade Promotion, Department of Import and Export, Department of Industry, Department of Trade Defense, Institute of Mechanical Research, Institute of Strategy and Policy Research of Industry and Trade, Ministry Office, General Department of Market Management, Industry and Trade Newspaper, University of Electricity, National Oil and Gas Group...
On the Chinese side, attending the meeting were Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, representatives of leaders of units of the Ministry of Commerce, and leaders of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.
The Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee is a periodic, rotating cooperation mechanism between the two Governments, co-chaired by the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Commerce of China. In 1994, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the People's Republic of China signed an agreement to establish the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee with the aim of further strengthening friendly cooperation, promoting economic and trade cooperation on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and respect for each other's sovereignty.
To date, the two sides have held 12 rotating meetings and in 2024, the 13th meeting will be held in China under the co-chairmanship of the two Ministers.
