With just one treatment, no surgery required but guaranteed to completely cure snoring is the loud introduction of some clinics. Is there really any method to completely cure snoring?

Snoring and sleep apnea are dangerous diseases, accounting for a fairly high proportion in the population. About 60% of people over 60 years old snore, the rate in young people is lower.
This condition, if prolonged, can easily cause cardiovascular and respiratory complications and many other dangerous complications.
There is no scientific basis for treatment.
Many places advertise how to permanently eliminate snoring?
Contact a clinic based in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the consultant introduced snoring treatment technology with a non-surgical procedure, ensuring a complete cure for snoring.
"Depending on the condition and severity, the doctor will advise you on the treatment regimen. Mild cases may only require 1 session, more severe cases will require 2-3 sessions. We are committed to treating the condition completely, without recurrence. Each treatment session lasts from 50 - 60 minutes, the cost ranges from 4 million VND to 8 million VND," this staff advised.
Clinics say they will use high-intensity ultrasound energy technology to melt away excess fat in the throat area, helping to open up breathing. In addition, many places also advertise functional foods that can cure snoring immediately or completely cure snoring after a period of use. The method is… spraying directly into the throat before going to bed?!
Dr. Nguyen Duy Thai, head of the representative office of the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Association in Hanoi, affirmed that the advertised methods of using tools to clear respiratory obstructions and restructure collagen and elastin to eliminate snoring cannot be confirmed to bring permanent results.
"The causes of snoring can be complex, involving the anatomy of the airway, overall health conditions (such as obesity), or other factors such as soft tissue thickness in the oropharynx."
Many places advertise that laser beams into the mouth can cure snoring. According to Dr. Tran Doan Trung Cang (Deputy Head and Neck Surgery Department, Ho Chi Minh City Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital), this Lightwalker laser is often used in dentistry. This is a solid-state Yag laser that has been used for more than 5 years, mainly to treat oral diseases such as gum disease, periodontitis, pulpitis and in some cases, implant placement...
In addition, laser irradiation is also applied to the mouth to heat the soft palate, which according to some documents will restructure the tissue, preventing the soft palate from losing tone and from falling into contact with the back wall of the throat under the effect of gravity when the patient is lying on his back, thereby preventing snoring.
However, Dr. Cang asserts that this treatment method has no clear scientific basis. Snoring is the sound produced when the respiratory airflow passes through a narrow gap, but the narrowing is not only in the soft palate but also in other locations such as a crooked nasal septum, a polyp in the nose, thick tissue at the base of the tongue or a narrowed larynx due to many different causes... Snoring and sleep apnea have other causes besides obstruction.
The effectiveness of the Lightwalker laser has not been proven to change the structure of the tissue in the nasopharyngeal region (how much collagen is increased). Therefore, at the ENT Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, this method is not currently used in the treatment of snoring.
Snoring and sleep apnea
Treatments for snoring also depend on the cause. If it is due to nasal obstruction, the septum must be adjusted, nasal polyps removed, adenoids scraped, and sinusitis treated.
Snoring due to obstruction of the throat area requires tonsillectomy and uvula reshaping. Snoring due to obstruction of the hypopharynx and larynx requires treatment of related diseases.
However, it is necessary to have specific indications for each type of surgery, do all the tests for snoring, sleep apnea, especially polysomnography to have the right indication for each patient, not needing surgical intervention for all cases.
Neurogenic snoring is treated with positive pressure ventilation depending on the disease. Mild snoring and sleep apnea require exercise, weight loss (if overweight or obese), avoiding risk factors that lead to snoring and sleep apnea, and stable treatment of associated medical conditions.
Moderate and severe snoring and sleep apnea will be treated with surgery (if indicated), CPAP, BiPAP, ASV, AVAPS... or jaw support devices.
According to medical experts, snoring is also one of the manifestations of sleep apnea syndrome, but very few people are diagnosed and treated. Most cases are not recognized early until the abnormal breathing or snoring attracts the attention of the person next to them.
According to Dr. Nguyen Tai Dung, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, 108 Central Military Hospital, if sleep apnea is not treated and blood pressure is normal, it is likely that blood pressure will increase within the next 5 years.
Repeated nocturnal hypoxia and sleep disruption are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, other arrhythmias, fatty liver, and stroke.
Signs of sleep apnea syndrome include snoring, which is loudest when lying on your back and less so when lying on your side. Especially nocturnal apnea, wheezing, gasping, and terminal apnea.
Frequent fatigue, difficulty concentrating at work, memory loss, mood swings, irritability. Daytime sleepiness, possibly falling asleep while working, even while driving. Headache upon waking, caused by reduced brain oxygen levels at night.
When these signs appear, you should go to a medical facility for examination and timely treatment to prevent possible dangerous complications.
What to do when you snore?
According to Dr. Nguyen Tai Dung, snoring is a common condition in both sexes. Snoring can be caused by many reasons. Physiological snoring can occur when tired, after drinking alcohol, taking sedatives... This group can be treated by changing their lifestyle.
Other causes may be due to structural abnormalities in the upper respiratory tract. Depending on the cause of snoring, doctors may recommend different treatment regimens.
Dr. Thai added that currently, there are common treatments for snoring including lifestyle changes such as losing weight and avoiding alcohol and sedatives before going to bed.
