On the afternoon of December 1, the Criminal Investigation Department of Tra Vinh Province Police is still detaining Lai The Viet (21 years old, residing in Tam Hung Commune, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City) for the crime of "Robbery". Suspect Viet is one of two subjects who used a gun to rob My Trang gold shop (in Chau Thanh town).

Sharing with the press, Mr. DCH, owner of My Trang gold shop, said he was still shocked when two people robbed his gold shop with guns.

Mr. H. said that his wife, Mrs. LTP, was shot and injured by Huynh Hai Quang (37 years old, residing in Hamlet 9, Ward 4, Tra Vinh City). When she was shot, Mrs. H. still tried to prevent the robber from escaping.

Mr. H added that normally his gold shop has security guards at the front door. But at the time of the robbery, it was after work so the security guards were no longer at the shop.

"My wife is the sales person, I help look after it. Right now, I'm still shocked by what happened yesterday," Mr. H. said in confusion.

According to initial investigation results, suspect Lai The Viet met Huynh Hai Quang through social networks. The two discussed committing the robbery.

On November 30, Viet went to Tra Vinh City to meet Quang to discuss the robbery plan. There, Quang gave Viet one gun and kept the other.

That evening, Viet and Quang took two guns and rode a motorbike to rob the My Trang gold shop (in Chau Thanh town). Quang shot Mrs. P. (the owner of the gold shop), injuring her. Then, Quang used a hard object to smash the glass case and steal 6 taels of gold. After that, both of them got on a motorbike and escaped.

The Tra Vinh Provincial Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with local police to investigate the scene and arrest the perpetrator.

According to the police, on the run, Quang gave Viet 5 million VND to hire a motorbike taxi to return to Ho Chi Minh City.

At around 8:50 p.m. the same day, the working group of the Traffic Police Department of Tien Giang Province Police was blocking the road at Ngai Loi Hamlet (Than Cuu Nghia Commune, Chau Thanh District) and discovered Viet moving on National Highway 1, so they controlled and arrested him.

Quang escaped on his motorbike towards Co Chien Bridge. When he reached Binh Phu Commune (Cang Long District, Tra Vinh Province), Quang saw the district police task force and opened fire on the law enforcement officers. Quang fled at high speed, fell and died on the spot.

The Investigation Police Agency, Tra Vinh Provincial Police seized 2 guns, 75 lead bullets, 1 motorbike and many related objects.

Two subjects carrying guns shot the wife of the gold shop owner and quickly broke the glass case to steal 6 taels of gold.

On the afternoon of December 1, the Criminal Police Department of Tra Vinh Province is still detaining Lai The Viet (21 years old, residing in Tam Hung Commune, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City) for the crime of "Robbery". Suspect Viet is one of two subjects who used a gun to rob the My Trang gold shop (in Chau Thanh town).
