In Ngoc Thuy ward (Long Bien district), Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh visited and presented gifts to veteran Nguyen Phu Vy, born in 1922, a 4/4 war invalid, veteran revolutionary cadre, and Hero of the Armed Forces. Before 1944, veteran Nguyen Phu Vy was a national salvation youth, participating in Viet Minh activities in Phuc Xa village.

In January 1945, Mr. Nguyen Phu Vy joined the secret self-defense team in Hanoi, was injured in the Ha Nam Ninh campaign during the resistance war against France, was awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces (1956, first batch) for his achievements in the Route 5 campaign (Hai Duong province) and the Ha Nam Ninh campaign; at the same time, participated in the Nha Dau - Kham Thien battle, Inter-zone Front 1 - Hanoi.

Veteran Nguyen Phu Vy participated in a total of 30 battles, always showing a brave spirit, determined to volunteer to go into battle to destroy the enemy, and with his platoon killed 500 enemies, captured and destroyed many enemy vehicles and artillery. He personally killed 60 enemies, captured 5, and captured 10 guns of various types. He was the Commander of Division 320, 395, and Principal of Military School of Military Region 3 before retiring in 1986.

In Thuong Thanh Ward (Long Bien District), Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh visited and presented gifts to former youth volunteer Nguyen Ngoc Ky, born in 1936, a 21% disabled veteran. He was a youth volunteer against the French in 1953. In January 1954, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ky enlisted in the 308th Division, participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

On October 10, 1954, he and his comrades in the 308th Division participated in the takeover of the Capital, led by Major General Vuong Thua Vu. Later, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ky became the Chief of Operations of the 36th Regiment, 308th Division.

Next, the delegation visited and presented gifts to veteran Hoang Nguong, born in 1937, a 43% disabled veteran, also residing in Thuong Thanh ward (Long Bien district). Veteran Hoang Nguong participated in the resistance war against the French, participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, and was injured in Cau Lo, Bac Giang. On October 9, 1954, he directly participated in the takeover of the capital. Veteran Hoang Nguong has a son who is a martyr.

At the families, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh kindly asked about their health and life, and expressed his deep gratitude for the great contributions and contributions of the veterans and youth volunteers in the resistance war against French colonialism, contributing with our army and people to the Dien Bien Phu Victory; then directly participating in the liberation of the Capital. They were living witnesses to the event of taking over and liberating the Capital 70 years ago.

According to Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day, Hanoi has proactively and actively implemented from the city level to the grassroots level, first of all doing a good job of taking care of the people's lives, spiritual culture, and taking care of material facilities for people with meritorious services and policy families.

“These meaningful and practical activities have shown the city’s deep gratitude and appreciation to those with meritorious services, revolutionary families, especially veteran revolutionaries who directly contributed to the liberation of Hanoi 70 years ago,” emphasized Chairman of the City People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh sent his best wishes to the revolutionary veterans, war invalids and their families for good health; to continue promoting revolutionary ethics, pioneering and exemplary spirit, participating in Party building, building local government and nurturing and educating revolutionary traditions for the younger generation, contributing to building the Capital more civilized and modern.

In addition, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh also acknowledged, highly appreciated and requested local Party committees and authorities to continue to better implement the policy of gratitude, the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking", caring for people with meritorious services and policy families in the area, especially on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital.

 

Previously, the Hanoi People's Committee had planned to visit and present gifts to families of policy beneficiaries and people who directly participated in the liberation of the capital during the resistance war against the French on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day.

Accordingly, the recipients of the gifts are people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs who directly participated in the liberation of the capital during the resistance war against the French. Each gift is worth 6 million VND, including 5 million VND in cash and 1 million VND in gifts. The total number of gifts is expected to be 12,150 with a total cost of 72.9 billion VND.
