Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee dialogues on the issue of ensuring youth development against the impact of the online environment

According to detailed statistics on the internet and social networks, in 2023, Vietnam will have 77 million users (accounting for 79.1% of the population). Social networks have become an important platform with more than 70 million participants, most of whom are young people. Lao Cai teenagers are no exception to the current trend of using the internet and social networks.

However, cyberspace contains many risks that can negatively affect the work, personal relationships and lives of users. Taking advantage of this, hostile and opposing forces have violated national security with increasingly sophisticated tricks and methods. They take advantage of social networks to spread false, distorted and anti-Party and anti-State arguments, which directly affects the thoughts, feelings, will and beliefs of young people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Therefore, in addition to opposing and exposing false and hostile arguments in cyberspace, it is also necessary to protect the young generation from a lot of false information in the online environment.

The conference received 22 opinions and recommendations from union members and youth.

The dialogue conference between the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and young people on the topic "The role of agencies, units, and authorities at all levels in ensuring the development of young people against the impacts of the online environment" is a political event and an important forum for young people to express their thoughts and aspirations as well as evaluate, propose, and recommend to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on issues related to solutions to protect and ensure the development of young people against the impacts of the online environment.

At the conference, 22 direct opinions and many written questions were received from union members and youth for agencies, units, and authorities at all levels regarding the issue of ensuring youth development in the face of impacts on the online environment.

Opinions focused on the following contents: Solutions of all levels, sectors, and functional agencies in overcoming internet infrastructure for remote and isolated areas; solutions to review, improve, and encourage community digital technology groups, especially those with youth participation, to promote effectiveness in performing their tasks. Some solutions to limit the negative impacts of social networks, improve content, and prevent and combat bad and toxic information posted on social networking platforms. Specific plans and actions of the Provincial People's Committee, all levels, and sectors in protecting young people from the risk of receiving inappropriate information, online violence, and online coercion. Solutions to ensure information safety and security; prevent and combat crimes in cyberspace; support young people to access e-commerce trading floors, etc.

The opinions and suggestions of the youth at the conference were answered directly by representatives of leaders of sectors, agencies and units in an open and responsible spirit.

Leaders of departments and branches directly respond to recommendations, proposals and questions from union members and young people.

Speaking at the dialogue conference, comrade Trinh Xuan Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that all levels, sectors, agencies and units always pay attention to ensuring the development of youth in the face of impacts on the online environment.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that in the coming time, leaders of Party committees, authorities at all levels, departments, branches and sectors need to increase direct dialogue activities with young people to promptly receive opinions, thereby finding solutions to improve the quality of leadership and management in all fields. Departments, branches and sectors seriously receive the issues discussed at today's conference, promptly and effectively resolve the legitimate recommendations of young people.

For the provincial Youth Union chapters, it is necessary to innovate and be creative in mobilizing, gathering, uniting and orienting youth through movements associated with local political tasks. At the same time, constantly educate and foster revolutionary traditions, build a generation of young people with political mettle, ideals and aspirations to contribute to the development of the locality.

Also through the dialogue conference, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee especially reminded the youth in the province to have courage, opinions, and knowledge in the face of information on social networks, promoting the role of youth in preventing, combating, and stopping bad and toxic information on cyberspace. Each member and youth must be a civilized user of social networks. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee believes that Lao Cai youth will continue to promote the spirit of volunteerism, seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and excellently complete assigned tasks, contributing to building Lao Cai more and more prosperous and happy.
